The 2017 Nissan Terrano facelift, which retails for between Rs. 9.99 lakh and Rs. 14.2 lakh, was introduced by Nissan India. Since the Terrano’s launch in October 2013 there has only been one upgrade, which coincided with the release of the Terrano Groove Edition. Nevertheless, the Japanese carmaker did introduce an automated manual transmission last year.

With the 2017 Nissan Terrano makeover, Nissan has added 22 new features, some of which were much-needed. One such feature is the new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and voice recognition. Other features include cruise control, hill climb assistance, and electrically actuated ORVMs. According on the variant, new materials or leather upholstery have been added to the inside, which has also been given a facelift. Now that the steering wheel has been modified, it features audio and phone controls. Thankfully, Nissan has equipped the 2017 Nissan Terrano with an armrest for the driver. Power window buttons are now lit, and wing mirrors have indicators built right in.

The new Terrano SUV still has a 1.5-liter diesel engine with two tuning options and a 1.6-liter gasoline engine under the hood that produces 103 horsepower and 148 Nm of peak torque. The more potent one produces 108 horsepower and 245 Nm of peak torque, while the less potent one produces 84 bhp and 200 Nm. The former comes with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, while the 108-bhp model offers a choice between a 6-speed manual and an AMT transmission.

The Nissan Terrano is a very comfortable and practical vehicle, but it lacks style. Although it isn’t a racer, the performance is sufficient for anyone who wants to drive safely. It has considerable ground clearance, is good off-road, and is a great load transporter. It also has the benefit of fitting into a garage that is rather tight because it is not as wide as many 4x4s. My own has been completely dependable for almost two years since I purchased it used. It’s already 11 years old, and the only time I’d replace it is if I could afford to buy a significantly newer one. Although it is not the world’s most fuel-efficient vehicle, when driven sensibly, it is not too bad. I can reach up to 35 mpg when running.

The Nissan Terrano’s failure in India: why

– A 1.5-liter diesel engine and a 1.6-liter gasoline engine were both offered for the vehicle.

Nissan has stopped selling the Terrano in India. The brand’s official website has subtly deleted the image of the model. The Terrano is unlikely to make a reappearance because it was not modified to conform with BS6 emissions standards.

A 1.5-liter diesel engine and a 1.6-liter gasoline engine were available for the Nissan Terrrano. The former could generate 102 horsepower and 148 Nm of torque, while the latter could do so with 84 bhp and 200 Nm. Both engines were mated to five-speed manual transmissions, with an AMT option available for the diesel model.

Six different models of the Nissan Terrano were available, including the XL, XE, XL (O), XV Premium, XV Premium AMT, and Sport Edition. The cost of the model ranged from Rs. 9.99 lakh to Rs. 14.64 lakh.

What about the Nissan Terrano’s cruise control?

The interiors, features, and infotainment system of the Nissan Terrano have remained largely untouched since its introduction in 2013 (apart from the limited Groove edition in 2015), and they were all clearly beginning to show their age. But for 2017, Nissan has modified the Terrano to make it more competitive, especially with its relative, the Renault Duster.

However, the enhancements and modifications are modest, and you might not even see them from the outside. Redesigned side mirrors with integrated turn signal indications and electrically retractable design. The Terrano also has new badging that designates the version on the A-pillar beneath the side mirrors. Aside than that, the vehicle is unaltered from the model before the facelift; the chrome fog light surrounds, daytime running lamps, and side step installed on the vehicle in the above photograph are optional extras.

Inside the cabin, most of the modifications are concentrated. With the inclusion of the 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, speed limiter, anti-pinch driver-side window, one-touch turn indicators, steering-stalk-mounted infotainment controls, and a revamped instrument cluster, the Terrano now has a dual-tone, black and brown interior. Similar to the Renault Duster, the touchscreen and switchgear are also included.

Along with some new materials, the 2017 Terrano’s interior has soft-touch plastics on the dash and faux-leather door inserts. The awkwardly situated back air conditioning vent from the previous model has been replaced with a bottle container.

The same as before, the seats now have a brown and black color scheme to match the rest of the cabin. For the 2017 model, an armrest has been added to the driver’s side.

As previously indicated, the 2017 Terrano’s mechanical design is unaltered. It is still powered by the same 1.5-liter DCi diesel engine and is offered in two tuning levels: 85hp and 110hp. For the 85 hp version, the engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission; for the 110 hp version, it is paired with a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed AMT gearbox. The 110 horsepower Terrano with the AMT transmission is the vehicle shown above. The vehicle won’t slide back on hillsides thanks to the addition of Hill Assist Control in this version. For driving impressions of the 2016 Terrano AMT, see our review.

A 1.6-liter petrol engine with 104 horsepower and a five-speed transmission are also options for the Terrano.

The base petrol and diesel models of the 2017 Terrano cost Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the top-of-the-line diesel AMT costs Rs 14.2 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
