What to Wear: Some Suggestions
What do girls wear to car shows, then? In order to view everything you want to see in a conference center, which has concrete floors covered in carpet, you should first make sure you can spend more than a few hours in your shoes. Notably, I did not state comfortable shoes. Keep those for the theme park. Given that it was winter, I chose boots with a thick heel. I prefer to wear pumps in the summertime, again with a hefty heel because they are always comfortable.
After that, check to see if your clothing is comfy. Even in warm weather, a sweater is essential because convention centers often have high ceilings and chilly interiors. This is because the air conditioning is often always on full blast. If you plan to wear your coat all day, check it at the coat check so you don’t have to tote it about and choose a lighter coat so you don’t perspire like a linebacker. Ew.
Choose color. You’ll stand out in contrast to the predominant colors of most car shows, which are black, white, silver, and red (unfortunately, this is still the case, but we’re working to change it!). But instead of choosing vomit-rainbow or silly-girl hues, choose a smart, well-styled color.
Look shrewd. Instead of dressing to look cute, choose clothes that show off your brains. Leave those to the hot rods next to the women in boots and bustiers (thankfully a dwindling element!). Leave trendy, clinging, and sexual at home and choose for smart, elegant, and fashionable instead.
Remain hydrated. Large convention centers are always dry; bring a water bottle, a decent lip gloss, and use a good moisturizer beforehand.
The following are my real and dream outfits, including shoes, that I would wear to the auto show and will wear, after going through my closet and creating wish-list collages on Polyvore.
I wore this on the first day of the car show because the knit skirt and flat boot were cozy, and the white top and jacket are classy yet professional.
The handbag is spacious enough to fit my iPad and water bottle, and the gold skirt and black turtleneck were chic and cozy all day.
With ankle boots and a sweater, this Chanel-inspired skirt exudes the signature je ne sais quoi that Chanel is so well known for.
Look sweet, smart, and serious all at once; the low boot says fashion counts. Kate Spade would be pleased.
Wear black and gold more than once this season—a it’s go-to combination. Change your bags and jewelry, and you’ll look like a new girl.
Ferrari
Ferrari is well-known for racing in Formula One; since 1952, the Italian motorsports powerhouse has won 16 Constructor’s Championships and 15 Driver’s Championships, and its magnificent, pulsing Rosso Corsa-clad vehicles have started in pole position (also known as first in line) a whopping 251 times. However, Ferrari turned up the ante tonight to make its debut on the fashion circuit, a track that is so competitive and quick-paced that it makes F1 look slow.
This first Ferrari fashion collection was created by Rocco Iannone, who gained experience at Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio Armani, and later Pal Zileri. It included 52 styles, 80% of which were unisex. It was displayed in Ferrari’s hometown of Maranello, Italy, on the production line where the company’s skilled autoworkers typically work to connect powerful V12 engines to hand-sculpted 812 GTS vehicles.
Jony Ive, Marc Newson, Mariacarla Boscono, Natalia Vodianova, and John Elkann, the current Ferrari driver and the grandson of Gianni Agnelli, all attended the collection’s opening and closing ceremonies (plus a gazillion other interests held by Exor conglomerate). Iannone used materials (such carbon fiber) and silhouettes influenced by Ferrari’s vehicle catalog’s anatomical illustrations with house iconography taken from its archives but repurposed to sit next to bodies rather than bodywork. While there were plenty of clearly Ferrarified sports socks and an intriguing transformation of the Prancing Horse mark into crystal-etched jewelry, partners like Puma and Ray-Ban delivered sneakers and sunglasses with recognized Ferrari designs without being too pit-lane loud.
Unquestionably well-planned, complex, and infused with the history of this motor home, the collection. Additionally, it was undoubtedly more sophisticated than the badge-heavy petrolhead merch that has long been produced here—and at pretty much every prestigious car marque—to appeal to customers who identify with the brand but cannot afford the roughly $200,000 (in Ferrari’s case) required to purchase an entry-level model. But there was one major mystery surrounding this Prancing Horse-themed pomp and circumstance: why? Ferrari, after all, was voted the world’s strongest brand by Brand Finance for the second time last year and earned a profit of 534 million euros on revenues of 3.46 billion euros, which are both very sweet numbers. Why therefore does it stray from its comfort zone to present this trendy diversion?
Iannone’s pre-show statement that she wanted “to broaden our fan base, including young generations and women especially—although women have always been part of our fan base, it has never been adequately told” seemed to have the key to the puzzle.
The reopening of Cavallino, the Maranello restaurant that was formerly Ferrari’s staff canteen, under the direction of Modena-based superchef Massimo Bottura and Paris-based architect India Mahdavi, occurred at the same time as the debut of this collection. Both projects were overseen by Simon Mitchell of London’s Sybarite. The objective is to “create a bridge to a wider audience,” according to Ferrari’s Chief Brand Diversification Officer, Nicola Boari.
Ferrari is embracing change even at home, launching an SUV this year before introducing its first all-electric car in 2025. Another sign that Ferrari is trying to change the aerodynamics of its perception in order to extend its appeal and adapt to shifting, 21st-century tastes in fashion is Iannone’s choice to size his collection from XXXS to XXXL.
The Numerous Frauds at America’s Fanciest Auto Show
The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is well known, which is an issue because exclusivity is what people who spend eight figures on a vintage Ferrari expect. Because the one percent is hardly an elite group in a nation of 300 million people.
The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering is the actual place to be because of this. The event, which is held a few days prior to the concours, has a cap on ticket sales of just a few thousand and features automobiles in categories like “The Great Ferraris” and “Iconic Pre-1965 Porsches.”
The free champagne and cocktails are provided to auto enthusiasts, who dress in what we’ll refer to as country club excess: men in flamboyantly colored slacks and loafers, women in hats worthy of New Horizons. The woman with the dubious “Lamboprincess” back tattoo and the man traveling with a parrot that eats pork buns are examples of nonconformists.
View some of the best activities and sights from this year’s Quail by clicking through the gallery above. Of course, there are also some fairly wacky vehicles to admire.
In order to make electric vehicles more affordable, spacious, and capable of 620-mile ranges, the auto industry is developing methods to integrate the fuel cells into the vehicle’s frame.
Additionally, Google increases its eco-friendly Maps instructions, Apple and Brazil square off, and social media platforms begin preparing for the US midterm elections.
What do I put on for a vehicle show?
Dress more comfortably than aesthetically. The judges and exhibitors may be dressed up, but the audience is not required to. When it comes to minimalist attire that might be more acceptable for the beach, common sense should prevail.
Which attire is appropriate for the rockabilly auto show?
When it comes to VLV, we probably get asked, “What do I wear?” the most. Since the event is so massive, you really can get away with anything. Some folks are dressed to the nines in vintage Hollywood 1940’s attire, while others are wearing jeans and a T-shirt. In essence, any of the standard vintage, retro, or rockabilly styles are acceptable. Pick your favorite retro style, and go for it!
Whatever style you decide on, it’s a good idea to attempt to seem put together (Hair + Outfit + Makeup + Attitude = THE LOOK). The most important thing is to enjoy yourself, dress comfortably, and try not to worry too much about competing with others.
What should I put on this week when driving?
Here are some fashion advice to bear in mind if you intend to visit one of the auto manufacturer shows or demonstrations:
- Choose an attire that is classy, subtle, and professional-looking.
- Avoid wearing garish statement attire that can distract from the display’s main point. It’s crucial to keep in mind that the focus should be on the automobiles and the presenters because of respect for the automakers. Consequently, dressing tastefully and professionally is a smart move.
- For instance, a classy pair of shoes and a timeless wrap dress are excellent combinations.
- A stylish wide-legged jumpsuit, straw hat, and designer tote bag (as displayed above) are a more laid-back option that nonetheless look perfect for this type of occasion. They convey a smart resort wear attitude.
- When in doubt, act tastefully. Ideal silhouettes are those that accentuate your figure; nonetheless, racy, short, or provocative cuts are not appropriate. For these kinds of vehicle events, stay away from the rompers and bandage dresses.
- For VIP parties, you should wear statement clothes or extravagant party gowns (stay tuned… I&C will be sharing a glamorous style guide on those types of car week events soon).

If you’re thinking about going to a car show, learn more about the location by conducting some preliminary research. For instance, Concorso Italiano, a car exhibition, is held on a golf course. Therefore, it is advisable to bring shoes that are appropriate for grassy terrain to these kinds of activities. The best options include flat sandals, stacked heels, espadrilles and wedges, flats, and even flats. Also fantastic choices are a maxi dress or a casual sundress. Because these vehicle exhibitions are typically held outdoors and the weather can be unpredictable, bring a light jacket or sweater.
How can I get ready for an auto show?
When preparing for a vehicle show, your first inclination could be to grab a bucket and buffer and start with the exterior. Start working on the engine and undercarriage instead of delaying that. By doing so, you can protect the windshield and fenders from degreaser. Any extra grease that gets splattered will be cleaned afterwards rather than having to clean it again.
What use do automobile shows serve?
There is more to do at a car show than just stand around admiring the vehicles and sharing pictures to Instagram. Smaller exhibits, driving competitions, auctions, and seminars are held in conjunction with higher-profile events in the days preceding the actual final judgment day. However, you can have many conversations even at a little local show that can with with you longer than the recollections of the vehicles themselves.
You may learn a lot about cars from these shows. You can learn detailing or repair tips, where to locate parts, how to distinguish one vehicle from another, a little history, or you can just swap stories with most owners who will be happy to provide more information about their cars than you could ever want to know. You can meet new people or possibly discover a car for sale. Regardless of who you are, you’ll leave a show with more knowledge about vehicles than you did when you arrived.
