The most potent V12 engine built by Maranello is currently found in the 812 Competizione, but that may soon change.
The Ferrari 812 Competizione boasts the highest specification of any V12 Prancing Horses, with 830 horsepower and 510 pound-feet (692 Newton-meters) available. The 6.5-liter naturally aspirated engine outperforms the LaFerrari’s combustion engine and has more power than the 812 Superfast it replaces.
In order to extract even more power from the amazingly powerful engine, Ferrari is apparently still working on it. Michael Leiters, the company’s technical director, told Autocar that a beefier V12 is already in the works but declined to say which model will gain from the enhanced engine, saying only that “We’re working on that.”
Ferrari SF90 Extreme Has Over 1,000 HP
Although the SF90 is Ferrari’s most potent production vehicle, Novitec nevertheless improved upon it.
Only a few weeks ago, Novitec transformed Ferrari’s mid-engine supercar, the F8 Tributo, into a fighter for the McLaren 765LT with 818 horsepower. Despite how remarkable these changes are, Novitec has already surpassed themselves. The Ferrari SF90 hybrid supercar was likely only a matter of time before the tuner acquired it.
The Ferrari SF90 Stradale is the most potent production car Ferrari has ever produced, but Novitec still improved upon it. Three electric motors and the 4.0-liter V8 engine in the SF90’s basic configuration work together to provide a combined 986 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque.
Novitec has upped the V8’s output to 813 horsepower and 632 lb-ft by adding a performance exhaust system and metal catalysts. The SF90’s overall output jumps to a staggering 1,033 horsepower and 858 lb-ft of torque when combined with the trio of electric motors. The SF90’s 0-60 mph sprint time of 2.5 seconds hasn’t changed despite the increase in power. Novitec asserts that the engine modifications raise the top speed to more than 211 mph.
Novitec’s sport springs reduce the SF90’s ride height by 1.18 inches up front and 0.9 inches back to enhance handling by reducing the supercar’s center of gravity.
Novitec’s Ferrari SF90 is finished off with a set of custom Vossen five-spoke wheels that measure 20 inches up front and 21 inches behind. You can choose from a variety of leather and Alcantara interior options in almost any color you like.
Undoubtedly, aftermarket Ferrari SF90s with greater power are available. A few months earlier, Ferrari’s flagship hypercar produced 1,118 horsepower and 678 lb-ft of torque thanks to rival German tuner Wheelsandmore. But Novitec isn’t finished with the SF90 just yet; the German tuner is already hard at work on more performance improvements and a body package made of aerodynamic carbon fiber.
