Faster than a Bugatti, what?
After outpacing the previous record-holder, the Bugatti Veyron, the Koenigsegg Agera RS has been named the world’s fastest production automobile.
During a recent attempt in Las Vegas, the Swedish supercar hit speeds of 272 mph and 284 mph for an average speed of 277 mph (or 446 km/h), breaking the previous record of 267 mph (430 km/h) set by its French rival Bugatti with the Veyron.
The Agera RS (limited to 25 units created) had a 5.0L V8 twin-turbo engine that produced 1,160 horsepower, but it might have driven even quicker if it had been equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires that were specifically made for harsh temperature and pressure conditions.
Beginning in October, the Agera RS also beat the previous record for the 0-400-0, which requires the vehicle to accelerate to 400 km/h before slowing down to a stop.
