Traction is prioritized in sport mode, but there is some degree of back wheel slippage allowed. When there is little to no traction on the road, the normal mode prioritizes stability and switches on as soon as the wheels start to slide.
Depending on the following factors, the active suspension system modifies the dampers:
- Drive in Sport or Normal mode
- Speed
- vertical speed up
- Rapid lateral movement
- Efficacy of braking
Under low and medium grip conditions, the comfort and stability of the vehicle take precedence in normal mode. Traction is prioritized in sport mode, which is substantially stiffer.
In addition, the ECUs have slightly different programming and sport mode opens the exhaust bypass valves at lower engine speeds if the car has the factory-optional “Racing Exhaust System” (code EXA1 at a cost of over PS3k).
