On a Honda VTX 1800, where is the oil filter located?
Step 1: Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes to warm up the oil and facilitate oil draining.

Step 7: Add 3.5 quarts of HP4 synthetic 10W40 engine oil to the machine. The VTX1800 requires 4 quarts of oil, therefore after adding the first 3.5 quarts, check the oil to determine if the engine will accept the final half quart.
Step 8: Replace the fill cap and start the engine to circulate the oil for a few minutes. To acquire an accurate oil reading, turn off the engine and wait a few minutes for the oil to settle.
9. Take off the fill cap or dipstick and dry it off. Simply set the cap back on top of the case; do not thread it in. Then take it out once more to check the dipstick’s level.
If the oil level is low, fill it off, then check it once more by replacing the dipstick and removing it again to make sure it’s in good shape, and you’re done.
