The teaser sketch of the eighth generation Golf’s digital dash was tucked away in a document summarizing the Volkswagen Group’s 2019 annual general meeting, which was held on Tuesday.
A sizable digital instrument cluster that effortlessly transitions into an infotainment screen is featured on top of the center stack. Thankfully, some tactile buttons will remain exist. The tech will continue past the dash. In the past, VW has promised increased connectivity, including a constant Internet connection. There will also be some degree of automated driving capacity.
The Mk8 Golf will have options for gasoline, diesel, natural gas, and plug-in hybrid vehicles, depending on the market. The latter will have an electric range of around 50 kilometers on a single charge. Uncertainty exists around whether a 48-volt mild hybrid system will be installed on all cars or just a select few. What is certain, though, is that the ID 3 will replace the battery-powered e-Golf, which will no longer exist.
Originally scheduled to debut at the 2019 Frankfurt International Motor Show in September, the Mk8 Golf will now instead have its ID 3 dbut there. The Golf will now make its public premiere the following month at a private ceremony in Wolfsburg, the home of Volkswagen, where it is anticipated to be constructed exclusively.

How can I check the mileage on my VW?

By swiping left or right on the right set of steering wheel controls, you can find your trip mileage by choosing the “driving data” screen, which is displayed on the same central display. Once within the driving data menu, use the right-side steering wheel controls to scroll up and down until you find trip.
The trip can then be changed from showing “since start,” “since refuel,” and “long term” by clicking OK (again on the right-hand steering wheel controls). Since start refers to the current journey’s beginning.

Shared Features
The SEL and SEL Premium keep all the features that were offered before them because they are the highest trims. This includes, among many other features, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, an 8-inch touchscreen, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and remote start. Both cars also offer blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing automatic wipers, a rearview camera, front collision warning with pedestrian detection, and automatic emergency braking.
The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 235 horsepower is standard on the SEL and SEL Premium models. However, a 3.6-liter V6 with 276 horsepower can be installed in its place. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, same like the cheaper models. The SEL comes standard with FWD, while AWD is an option. The SEL Premium is available solely in AWD.
SEL Features
With amenities like integrated navigation, a panoramic sunroof, and the 12.3 Digital Cockpit gauge cluster, the SEL trim really starts to enter high-end territory. It includes a towing kit and a heated steering wheel as well. This trim level adds a ton of safety features, such as automatic high-beam headlamps, lane keep assist, and low-speed traffic jam help. There are second-row captain’s seats available for $695.
SEL Premium Features
The SEL Premium is the best available. It is the only Atlas type that is only offered with three rows. This model comes equipped with leather upholstery, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, and ambient interior lighting. Additionally standard is a 12-speaker Fender audio system. It has power-folding side mirrors, a surround-view parking camera system, hands-free parallel parking assistance, and other driver assistance features. Second-row captain’s chairs are available for $695, much like the SEL.
