Is The Volkswagen Atlas Diesel

The 2018 Volkswagen Atlas, which completes the VW model lineup as its biggest and most capable SUV yet, is poised to have a significant impact on the auto industry. There’s nothing like a diesel powered motor sitting beneath the hood to get you where you need to go if you’re the kind of driver who likes to give your drive a little additional oomph. The 2018 VW Atlas may have you wondering if it has a diesel engine. At Capistrano Volkswagen, we have the solution to your problem!

VW Atlas engine options and performance

Unfortunately, the simple response to the question is “no,” but the lengthier response reveals some truly interesting qualities. Even though the Atlas doesn’t have a diesel engine, you may choose between two equally powerful ones that are just waiting for you to use their incredible power. Look at them down below!

liter turbocharged Inline 4

The 2.0-liter turbocharged TSI Inline 4 will be available as an option on the Atlas, which is scheduled for later release once all the final touches are applied. Despite its tiny size, skilled engineering has made sure that it won’t sag when you hit the gas. You’ll have access to 258 lb-ft of torque and up to 235 horsepower!

liter V6

As the standard engine for the Atlas, the 3.6-liter V6 need no introduction. When you load up with premium fuel, this V6 can generate 276 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque, making it equally scary, strong, and responsible. Even better, this engine can get up to 25 highway miles per gallon if you’re driving your Atlas!

Not only that, but an 8-speed automatic transmission with a Sport Mode option will transfer the power from both of these engines, giving you one of the fastest, smoothest rides on the road. You can control the pavement like never before with to this and 4MOTION All-Wheel Drive!

What kind of gas does a VW Atlas use?

For the VW Atlas, regular unleaded fuel is advised. This makes filling up simple and economical. Additionally, it is built to travel a long distance between petrol stops. You’ll use less petrol thanks to the 19.5-gallon fuel tank and two effective powertrains.

What kind of engine is in an Atlas?

When the box is Volkswagen’s enormous three-row Atlas SUV, living in a box isn’t so bad. Contrary to many other three-row mid-sizers in the platoon, the Atlas has a rearmost seat that is roomy enough to accommodate adults. A 276-hp V-6 engine with a towing capacity of 5000 pounds or a 235-hp turbocharged four-cylinder power the Atlas. Both engines can be selected with either front- or all-wheel drive and both come with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Atlas’s spacious inside makes it more practical because there is more cargo space available when the third row is folded, even though we thought the interior materials were a little more corporate than those of rivals like the plusher Kia Telluride and Mazda CX-9. If design is more important to you than seating and load capacity, Volkswagen’s large German truck gets a sporty makeover with the Atlas Cross Sport, which we analyze separately.

VW Atlas: Is it a hybrid?

A five-seater version of the Atlas, the Cross Sport Concept debuted in the USA as a seven-seater in 2017. VWs can they run on diesel?

The latest generation of four-cylinder diesel engines from Volkswagen have been given the go-ahead to operate with paraffinic fuels, a recently produced diesel fuel that contains bio-components. When compared to traditional diesel, the manufacturer claims that using paraffinic fuels should enable a significant reduction in carbon emissions of between 70 and 95 percent.

Fleet vehicles are the major topic of the news release. The German automaker did add, however, that since the end of June of this year, all VW vehicles with four-cylinder diesel engines (TDI) have been certified for use with paraffinic diesel fuels. These models include the Golf GTD and the Tiguan TDI from the eighth generation.

“We are enabling consumers throughout Europe to dramatically cut their CO2 emissions as soon as the fuel is locally accessible by using eco-friendly fuels in the authorized Volkswagen vehicles. For instance, using paraffinic fuels is a sane extra alternative, especially for businesses with a fleet of vehicles with both electric and conventional drives “Professor Thomas Garbe, Volkswagen’s Head of Petrol and Diesel Fuels, remarked.

Hydrotreated vegetable oil is one example of a biological residual and waste material that is used to make paraffinic fuels (HVO). Which Volkswagen Atlas engine is superior?

Reiterating what we said in the introduction, the 2.0-liter and 3.6-liter engines available for the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas are both potent and efficient. However, one is more potent and the other is more fuel-efficient, which may make this decision easier for SUV buyers.

As you can probably assume, the V6 engine choice is the more potent engine option for the 2020 Atlas range, and the 4-cylinder 2020 Atlas engine option is the larger fuel-saving option. However, both offer high power ratings and strong gas mileage ratings, so whichever you choose, you’re making a solid decision.

We should also take into account the fact that many people want a new SUV with all-wheel drive because we reside in Wisconsin. If that’s the case, you can skip choosing an engine since the 2020 Atlas’s 3.6-liter engine is the only one that can be paired with 4MOTION permanent all-wheel drive.

Here too, the Volkswagen Group’s model lineup once heavily featured diesel engines. Starting with the 1.2-liter TDI engine in the Polo and ending with the more powerful 4.2-litre TDI found in Audi cars like the Q7 and A8.

Volkswagen, however, made the decision to stop producing diesel engines in India as we shifted to the strict BS6 emission standards in April. Diesel engines would have required expensive after-treatment systems to meet BS6 standards, which would have had minimal benefit for tiny automobiles. Additionally, despite Volkswagen’s prior hints that diesel engines might return for larger models as part of the India 2.0 strategy, there are currently no updates on the matter. The VW Group vehicles here will therefore continue to be petrol-only for the time being, in contrast to the company’s global lineup.
