Depending on how sensitive you want the rain sensor to be, you can select several levels. The wipers will only remove a few spots of rain if you select the most sensitive option, while the least sensitive setting will take a little longer to get going. Even worrying about reversing is not necessary. When the sensor is activated and you shift into reverse, the back wipers will start to clear any rain.

A number of infrared light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and a central photodiode make up the sensor system. The windscreen reflects the LEDs’ light back onto the photo sensor. The sensor receives less light the more water drops there are on the windscreen. An electronic control unit receives this data and modifies the windscreen wiper’s wash intervals accordingly.

WINDSHIELD WIPER SETTINGS

Wiper lever should be pushed up to the third detent for HIFast wipes.
When wiping slowly, raise the wiper lever to the second detent.
When fitted, use Rainsense wipes or intermittent wipes.

o Raise the wiper lever to its initial detent. o To change the intermittent wiper speed, turn the intermittent band. o If Rainsense is installed in your car, this setting will be marked AUTO (see below).

Put AUTO on the windshield wiper lever. The status of Rainsense will be shown in the Driver Information Center.
For increased sensitivity to moisture, turn the Rainsense sensitivity band UP.
For reduced sensitivity to moisture, LOWER the Rainsense sensitivity band.
To turn off Rainsense, pull the lever out of AUTO.

To avoid the wipers activating in an automatic car wash, Rainsense immediately deactivate when the vehicle is in NEUTRAL.

Do my wipers detect rain?
