What happens if the battery in my key fob dies while I’m driving?
This issue has been foreseen by automakers ever since the key fob was created. Nothing will happen if your key fob dies while you’re driving. Simply because the key fob is a locking and starting device only, the automobile will continue to run. The key fob has no influence over the ignition or engine once the automobile is moving.
Even though you’ll need to go to a general store or pharmacy to get the battery, replacing the battery in your key fob simply takes a few minutes if you’re pressed for time.
Why not take the time to renew your auto insurance at the same time as you’re replacing the batteries in your key fob?

How does VW start/stop function?
We believe that being stuck in traffic is unpleasant enough without having to pay for it as well. We developed Start/Stop Technology as a fairly easy technique to assist you in saving money anytime you come to a stop because of this.
What does it do?
When you temporarily stop moving, Start/Stop virtually shuts off your engine and effortlessly turns it back on when you’re ready to move again.
How it works:
When you stop, you simply shift into neutral, let off of the clutch, and the Start/Stop technology turns off your engine. The technology just turns everything back on when you dip the clutch to start moving again. It’s more simpler if you have an automatic transmission because it automatically turns off your engine when you hit the brake and turns it back on when you press the accelerator.
What is Auto Start/Stop system?
Modern vehicles come equipped with automatic start/stop systems as standard equipment. While driving, this technology recognizes when the car is stationary and shuts off the engine to conserve fuel and cut pollutants. As you release the brake or depress the clutch, the engine restarts.
How to deactivate the Auto Start/Stop system on Volkswagen Audi Skoda & Seat vehicles?
1. You can push the start/stop button in your car to temporarily disable the start-stop feature, but bear in mind that it will reactivate when you start the engine again. Due to Volkswagen’s disabling of the outdated techniques, this does not function on the most recent models of the cars.
2. Cut the voltage sensor off.
The voltage sensor connector can also be unplugged from the negative terminal in order to disable Start/Stop. However, there are rare issues where the automobile is unable to check the battery level.
3. The premium version of OBDeleven PRO. If you are an experienced user who knows how to program cars, you can utilize a PRO/Ultimate subscription level, which enables you to manually activate the option. You can process necessary code modifications and have access to the vehicle’s computers and control systems.
OBDeleven 4. Users can complete the same task with one-click applications because they already have all the necessary code in place. Your Audi, Volkswagen, Skoda, or Seat’s Start/Stop system will be permanently disabled thanks to this function. View the demonstration video below to learn more.

Is a push start preferable than a key?
A driver can start their engine by pressing a button on a push button start key fob. However, if you don’t use your car’s brakes, you won’t be able to start it. Similarly, if you don’t put your gear in park, your push-button start won’t shut off your engine.
Keyless fobs are currently quite popular, but they do not yet control the market. Many mainstream automakers still employ manual keys. However, because to the difficulty they have trying to grip a car key, older drivers and people with arthritis are beginning to favor keyless ignition systems.
Each car’s push button start is special. Each key fob includes a signal that connects it to the car’s ignition. As a result, the ignition of your automobile will only turn on when you touch the start button on your original key fob. When using the push-button start on your key fob to start your automobile, you must do so a short distance from where it is parked.
Push button start key fob advantages include:
- Car accidents are less likely thanks to push-button start devices. When you press the push button start key fob and step on the brake, your engine won’t start if you utilize a keyless ignition system. The likelihood of such cars operating without their drivers is decreased.
- Some keyless ignition systems stop users from leaving their key fobs inside the vehicle unattended. When drivers leave their key fobs in the trunk or inside the car, these systems include sirens that sound. Toyota, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Mazda, Ford, Honda, Nissan, and GM are car brands featuring these alarm systems.
- Some upscale brands even provide consumers roadside assistance services where they dispatch a specialist to help you unlock your car. Your car manufacturer might even conceal a backup mechanical key inside your key fob, if you’re lucky. To open the automobile, place the spare key inside the emergency port on your car.
- Key fobs with a push-button start guard your car from theft. A keyless ignition system prevents auto robbers from entering the vehicle by preventing the ignition from turning on until it gets a signal from the associated key fob.
- Even if the battery in your key fob is dead, keyless ignition systems let you start your car. In such circumstances, contacting your manufacturer through their emergency support center is the simplest approach to unlock your automobile. You can get in touch with your automobile manufacturer over the phone or through the brand’s mobile app.
Will a dead key fob prevent a car from starting?
8. Dead battery in the key fob. If your car can start without you taking the key fob out of your pocket, the key fob has a battery that sends signals to your car when it is nearby. If the battery in the fob dies, your car won’t recognize you and won’t start.
My Volkswagen key is missing.
You must visit our dealership to have your Volkswagen key replaced if you don’t have a spare. However, make sure you have the necessary paperwork, such as a driver’s license and evidence of vehicle ownership, before you leave the house in order to expedite the procedure.
Recall that you must first purchase the key component before paying an additional labor fee to have it programmed to your vehicle. Your vehicle identifying number (VIN) will be used by the dealer to place an order for a replacement key, which will take two to three days to come from Volkswagen. The dealer will then manually modify your car’s computer to accept the replacement after cutting the key.
