The more inexpensive $36,795 SE includes a second-row center armrest with integrated cup holders and a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. But upgrading to the SEL offers you all of that in addition to inside leather upholstery, three distinct driver profiles, and in-car WiFi with a hotspot that supports tethering of up to four devices simultaneously. The latter comprises preferred safety-assistance settings and seat position. Each profile is connected to a certain car key.
The SEL includes additional safety technology. You also get start/stop functionality for the cruise control system (automatically following and stopping in traffic and allowing restarting), automatic high beams, and road sign detection in addition to the standard adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and rear cross-traffic detection.

With amenities like integrated navigation, a panoramic sunroof, and the 12.3 Digital Cockpit gauge cluster, the SEL trim really starts to enter high-end territory. It includes a towing kit and a heated steering wheel as well. This trim level adds a ton of safety features, such as automatic high-beam headlamps, lane keep assist, and low-speed traffic jam help. There are second-row captain’s seats available for $695.
SEL Premium Features
The SEL Premium is the best available. It is the only Atlas type that is only offered with three rows. This model comes equipped with leather upholstery, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, and ambient interior lighting. Additionally standard is a 12-speaker Fender audio system. It has power-folding side mirrors, a surround-view parking camera system, hands-free parallel parking assistance, and other driver assistance features. Second-row captain’s chairs are available for $695, much like the SEL.
Has the VW Tiguan a third row?
