What keeps it going? Two engines will be available for the wagon: a 2-liter turbocharged TDI diesel engine with 150 horsepower, which is 10 horsepower more than the diesel engine now found in the Jetta SportWagen, and a 1.8-liter turbocharged 170-horsepower TSI gasoline engine. The 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions for the SportWagen with a gasoline engine will be available. Both a 6-speed manual and a dual-clutch automatic transmission are available to diesel purchasers.
How much and when? The actual Golf SportWagen, not this concept, will go on sale in the first quarter of 2015, according to Volkswagen. Although prices have not been disclosed, we will be shocked if the diesel wagon is less than $30,000.
Looks like what? Even though Volkswagen claims the front-end appearance is different from the Jetta SportWagen’s, it’s hard to tell much of a difference in pictures.
