GreenerCars, however, decided not to include any car models that weren’t “widely available” or didn’t reach a specific annual sales threshold.
GreenerCars calculated the fuel efficiency and emissions of each vehicle in the study using data from the US EPA and the California Air Resources Board as well as automaker requirements. In order to determine each vehicle’s score, it also estimated emissions of contaminants that cause health issues, air pollution from the vehicle’s manufacturing and production process, and greenhouse gas emissions.
