1 To remove the window crank on models with manual window regulators, slide a cloth back and forth behind the handle to release the retaining clip (see illustration). There is a specialized tool available for this but it is not necessary, Pull off the handle and gather the plastic washer from behind it after releasing the retaining clip. Pry out the switch assembly on models with power windows, unhook the electrical connector, and then take it out (see illustration),
2 Carefully pry up the plastic cover, remove the screw holding the interior release handle surround trim, and then lever the trim backwards and out of the way with a flat-bladed screwdriver (see illustrations).
4 The door pull handle’s two screws need to be removed. Pry open the flap to gain access to the last screw; then, remove the screws (see illustrations).
Five expanding plastic clips and six panel clips now hold the panel in place. Insert a flat-bladed tool between the trim panel and the door to disengage the panel clips, then push in the center pins and pry out the expanding clips. Work your way around the door’s exterior edge until the panel is unlocked.
6 After releasing all of the fasteners, separate the trim panel from the car by gently lifting it up and out. Then, unhook any electrical connectors.
7 The plastic weathershield must be removed in order to reach the interior door. Peel back the plastic covering with caution to prevent tearing it (see illustration 13.14).
