My keyless entry system was waiting for me when I got home today because it had been there for some time, so I decided to check what was inside.
There were a billion wires and connectors, to start. The instructions then had NO sense.
To help the next guy who receives confusing instructions, I created this guide.
Note that this is ONLY for remote entry. Nor an alarm, not a remote start, just remote entrance.
Another point: Be prepared for your aftermarket alarm to go NUTS, possibly even your stock alarm. I have a partially functional aftermarket alarm, however it is missing a key fob and a siren. Most of the wires have already been severed. Disconnecting the battery, however, proved to be a bad move.
Tools required:
- The socket set is used to locate a ground and remove the battery.
- Wire strippers and cutters
1) Cut the battery off.
2) Remove the kick panel on the driver’s side.
3) A square, blue connector with wires may be seen entering the door. Cut the clip. Find two green wires, one light and one dark, and place them next to one another.
4) Connect it to the module by tapping into them (this is the only step where the instructions specified which wires to use). Next, gather your ground wires and ground them on the nearby grounding bolt. My ground wires counted two. then acquire your wire with a consistent 12+ V. I just powered one directly off the battery.
5) Connect everything, then tuck it beneath the dash.
Bam. Done. Some kits can also be connected to a trunk release, but with our cars, you have to get creative.
Warning: Working with electrical systems is a part of this DIY. It is entirely your responsibility if you injure or kill yourself as a result of following this “advice,” or if you fry or burn your car. You can’t hold TN or me accountable for your own foolishness. People, use common sense.

Additionally, they were exclusively offered on luxury models like Cadillac and Mercedes, much like many other cutting-edge features.
The keyless system uses a fob that you keep in your pocket, handbag, or another location where it will be handy when you’re ready to start the car.
A low-frequency signal is sent by the fob and transmitted to the car’s computer. The car’s computer verifies the signal sent when you press the start button and fires up the engine.

So, How Do You Install A Remote Starter In Push-to-Start Car?

It’s good news that you can succeed. The bad news is that installing one of these systems on a car that still needs a key ignition is more difficult.
Choosing a Properly Integrated System
You must get a premium remote start system that is compatible with your car for the greatest performance. Although these gadgets can be expensive, it is preferable to spend the money on something that will work rather than something that will cause you issues.
Also:
You must run the wires securely and cautiously during installation of these systems to prevent any loose connections from occurring.

Mistakes to Avoid When Buying a Remote Starter
There are numerous brands and features available in the huge field of remote starters. And because there are so many options, buying a unit might be tricky.
Range Versus Transmitter Power
The range at which a remote starter operates is advertised on the package when you purchase one. The terms “500-foot range” and “1,000-foot range” are frequently used. Although the makers are required to list these measurements on the product, keep in mind that the data is not exact.
Yes, under ideal circumstances you should obtain the range specified. However, they frequently fail to take into consideration obstacles like walls and RF interference.
You may never need to start your car from a distance of a thousand feet, but you will want to do so from inside a structure. This is where transmitter power comes into play, which is why it’s usually more important than range.
Consider a remote starter with strong transmission capabilities rather than one with a long range.
Getting a Cheap System
If you believe yourself to be relatively handy, you can purchase a remote starting for as little as $79.99 that includes a DVD or a link to a YouTube video that demonstrates how to install a remote start on your own vehicle.
Since most people aren’t aware of which remote starter brand is the best, it’s best to read reviews carefully and don’t be shy about asking the merchant questions to make sure you obtain one that will work with your vehicle.
How a merchant answers your questions can reveal a lot about them; professionalism and excellent customer service are essential!
Not Getting Enough Features
The final error people frequently commit is not obtaining all the things they desire. Some customers choose to save money by purchasing only a remote starter, but later wish they had purchased one with additional features like a trunk release or a rear window defroster activation.
Talk once more to reputable merchants to find out what advice they would give you. Spending a little more to purchase a high-quality system is always preferable to buying a cheap system and then regretting it.
The decision to purchase a remote starter for your push-to-start car is a significant one that you shouldn’t make hastily. Before making a decision, make sure to conduct thorough research and ask lots of questions. It’s a great aftermarket accessory for your car and will undoubtedly simplify your life.
