If Home Depot is unable to duplicate your car key, you may want to look at AutoZone, which has a sizable assortment of chipped keys, or go to a locksmith.
However, avoid going to a dealership to get a new chipped key unless it is your last resort or you have tons of money to spend. The vast majority of dealerships grossly overcharge for this service.
Home Depot Non-Transponder Keys
You probably don’t need a transponder key with a chip if your car was produced before 1999.
Non-transponder automobile keys are widely available at Home Depot and range in price from $2 to $10 per key.
These less expensive keys are a wonderful backup if you lose your more expensive chipped key and need a template for a new one, even if your automobile employs a transponder key. Having a backup key to copy can be a lifesaver because replacing your single key is an expensive operation.
