How is the front door handle removed?
You must now replace your handle and knob after cleaning, painting, or doing any other necessary maintenance on them. Fortunately, you are more familiar with the parts now. You will mainly just be turning the process around. I shall therefore only touch on the essential aspects.
Reinstall the handleset by first going through the latch and through the hole. Reposition the screws in the holes after that. At this stage, you can only screw them down a small amount. Reinstalling the internal plate is the first step. Align the big holes with the screws, and then turn it in the arrows’ directions. Finish tightening the screws to lock the plate.
Here comes the knob. Examine the interior of the doorknob. Before you put the knob back into the door, you should notice arrows showing which direction the lever mechanism needs to be aligned. In order to align the arrows, look at them. Reinstall the doorknob by lining it up with the doorhole. ReminderDon’t press it up against the door just yet.
Return to the same notch you were in when you removed the doorknob once it is in the door. Put as much pressure as you can on the interior mechanism while holding the doorknob, then slide your flathead screwdriver under the lever. When removing the knob, push the lever in the opposite way. Slide it all the way until there is no more room for movement. The doorknob should now be locked back in place at this point. Verify its security via testing. Next, firmly reinstall the plate cover.
