Toyota’s GA-C platform, strengthened to handle the torque, AWD design, and speeds the car is built for, is located beneath the bodywork of the new GR Corolla. This objective is furthered through changes to the steering, chassis, suspension, and other parts.

Later this year, the GR Corolla’s base Core model will be offered in three color options: white, black, and Supersonic Red. The GR provides seating for five, much like the regular Corolla. The GR Corolla will release a limited-edition Circuit Edition model in 2023 that will come in white, Supersonic Red, and Heavy Metal. Along with Brin Naub suede-trimmed sport seats, a vented bulging hood, a bigger rear spoiler, and a shift knob with Morizo’s signature, there are new features.

Closer to the debut, the price for the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla Core and Circuit Edition will be disclosed.

It won’t thrill you, but the Toyota Corolla rides and handles well enough.

The Toyota Corolla might not be the vehicle for you if you want to get your thrills behind the wheel of a sporty sports car. It’s ordinary in every regard, with safe and secure but unentertaining handling, a smooth but unexceptionally cushy ride, and sophisticated but lackluster engines that give this lineup much vigor.

All Corolla models have 1.8-liter inline-4 engines, and while the majority of them on dealer lots come with CVTs, there are also 6-speed manual versions available for the Corolla SE sedan and the Corolla iM hatchback. In most variants of the sedan, the 1.8-liter produces 132 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque; the LE Eco has a unique valve timing technology to save fuel, which has the nice side effect of adding 8 hp (albeit at the expense of 2 lb-ft). This motor’s specifications for the Corolla iM are 137 horsepower and 126 lb-ft of torque, although we wouldn’t get too caught up in the numbers if we were you. All of them accelerate sufficiently. They must frequently travel at higher engine speeds due to the CVT, but there is enough sound insulation and a good stereo system to minimize engine rumble.

A three-spoke steering wheel with a thick rim (now leather-wrapped on all bar L and LE trim levels) gives the impression of having sporty prowess that simply isn’t present, even on SE and XSE trims. The Corolla’s steering is mild, and there isn’t much road feel. It confidently completes the task at hand, but it isn’t there to have fun. The Corolla sedan’s suspension is no different; it provides a lot of wheel travel to absorb significant bumps, resulting in a smooth ride and a considerable amount of body lean in corners.

The Corolla iM’s more advanced rear suspension gives it a little more persistence on winding roads. Although it rides slightly more firmly, most road imperfections do not jar riders.
