The Toyota is able to rail curves thanks to the Sienna’s electric rear motor, which sends its instantaneous torque to one (or both) of the back wheels and aids in maintaining a straighter path. Downshift the six-speed autobox, point the car toward the apex, and apply little gas power as you toss it through a curve. Now get ready to have your mind completely blown by how excellently the Sienna carves. Ahem. You would never attempt this with children around, of course. When they’re not, however, moderately firm steering and an incredibly smooth drivetrain make the car feel much livelier than it actually should. Shhh! Tell no one that driving is enjoyable.

Toyota was able to create a distinctive double-decker console between the two front seats because to this configuration. USB ports tucked away from stem to stern because they understand that could only mean conflict between a pair of pre-adolescents. Not to mention beverage-friendly cubbies wherever you turn. Pitfalls

There is no getting past the fact that the Sienna still functions and looks like a minivan. You probably need a larger ride if you have two or more children. The problem is that a large SUV will often only obtain, at best, a mediocre 20 to 25 miles per gallon. That hurts the environment and makes filling up at the pump difficult. One option is to get the Kia Carnival if the curving body of the Toyota makes your soul hurt. It’s an SUV that is actually a minivan. However, with gas costs rising more than a dollar per gallon just since last fall, that discrepancy is tough to ignore. Its combined 22mpg is about 40% worse than the Toyota’s 35mpg.

The Bottom Line

There are no seven-passenger EVs that are fairly priced and even remotely comparable to the capacity and capacities of the Sienna.
