Toyota Receives Perfect Score on 2017 Corporate Equality Index from Human Rights Campaign

According to the Human Rights Campaign, which today awarded Toyota its 10th straight perfect score of “100 on the HRC’s 2017 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality, Toyota has consistently upheld the highest standards in the workplace.

Kia – LGBTQ Support?
In honor of Pride, we collaborated with the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (#NGLCC) on a series of stories that featured some of the #ProudOwners in our nation.
dynamic LGBTQ+ people, such as Theo Edmonds, who was recognized by Southern Living Magazine as one of the “50 People Changing the Face of the South.” Theo, a ninth-generation Appalachian and entrepreneur, is also a cultural strategist, scholar, artist, husband, and business builder. He is putting his lifelong passions into practice through his revolutionary use of science as the co-founder of UPOP (Underestimated People of Purpose), a cultural analytics company whose mission is to prepare for the future of work by aligning culture change management with innovation. He is developing strategies for a more inclusive and welcoming business future for all people.
We highlighted George Carrancho, a man who discovered his purpose on the first day he began working at a hotel chain while still a college student, as we progressed through the month. George decided at that point that travel would be his life. Travel unifies people from all over the world, according to George. He started Geo Lux Experiences, a travel agency that specializes in creating unique experiences with a warm, caring human touch, after spending years working for a large airline and shaping their LGBTQ+ marketing.
Then, we had a conversation with industry pioneer Sandra Escalante. Sandra has carved out a name for herself in the building sector for more than 33 years. She is altering narratives and defying expectations in her role as president of Laner Electric Supply Co., a wholesale distributor of electrical construction materials, lighting equipment, and tools. Her woman- and minority-owned business, which is the only LGBTQ+ certified electrical supplier in the United States, has done business with some of the biggest corporations in the world.

How does Apple promote LGBTQ rights?
News: Despite typically avoiding the spotlight when it comes to politics, Politico reports that Apple uses its lobbying clout to defeat anti-LGBTQ+ legislation.
- The consumer electronics giant is lobbying and using its resources to oppose legislation that would discriminate against gay and transgender people and their families in Texas, Florida, Iowa, and other states.
Details on this: Fred Sainz, senior director of corporate communications at Apple, recently urged Fortune 500 CEOs to oppose a Texas governor’s order requesting child abuse investigations of parents who provide gender-affirming care to transgender children.
- The Dallas Morning News published a letter on March 11 that was later signed by 60 additional organizations, including Levi’s, Unilever, Patagonia, Johnson & Johnson, and other well-known names, denouncing that approach.
- To create strategies and submit court documents in LGBTQ rights cases, Apple’s legal staff works with legislators and advocacy organizations. Executives from the company have pushed other well-known firms to publicly oppose these policies on the grounds that they encourage prejudice and endanger LGBTQ children.
- Although he rarely discusses this aspect of his existence in public, Apple CEO Tim Cook is the most well-known gay executive in the US.

- a therapist who is dedicated to ensuring that LGBTQ concerns are taken seriously.
Allies may play a crucial role in reducing and even preventing harassment and discrimination against LGBTQ youth by taking action to show their support for their rights. This will help to ensure that schools and other places where LGBTQ youth are cared for are safe for everyone.
Being an ally has its own difficulties, even though it can be safer for straight supporters to support LGBT rights. Allies are not exempt from discrimination or harassment.
