The Porsche Taycan prioritizes driving enjoyment above all else, contrary to how sports car driving qualities are normally prioritized for electric vehicles. Porsche built a four-door vehicle with human engagement in mind rather than autonomous, soulless transportation, using battery power as an opportunity rather than an excuse. The Tesla Model S and Lucid Air comfortably outperform the Taycan’s maximum EPA-estimated range of 227 miles, but it still handles and accelerates like a Porsche should: with imperious confidence and authority. Every Taycan has a two-speed transmission, from the base model’s 402 horsepower single rear motor to the ridiculously fast 750 horsepower Turbo S, to blend epic acceleration with cruising range that exceeds expectations on the highway. The Taycan Cross and Sport Turismo, a wagon variation of this sedan, was also tested individually. The Taycan can charge at a pace of up to 270 kWh on a strong enough DC fast charger thanks to an 800-volt architecture. The characteristic Stuttgart driving experience is completed by a low-slung driving position and a 16.8-inch curved display.

A supercar? Is the Porsche Taycan one?

Despite being impulsive, the Taycan is much more sensible and conservative on the inside. It is well-equipped with all the most recent gadgets and space you require. It is luxurious, vintage, and slightly Space Age-bred. Even for large humans, the boot and legroom are enough, and although it is only designed for four passengers, a fifth seat is available if necessary.

Can a family use a Porsche Taycan?

The vehicle used to attempt the record was a top-of-the-line Taycan Turbo S with 751 horsepower, a quantity that contributed to the car’s 2.8-second 0–100 km/h time.

Two key aspects are absent from this base model, but it turns out that they are not much missed. The Taycan range has only ever featured four-wheel drive, with a motor driving each axle, up to this point. This updated model eliminates the front motor, making rear-wheel drive the only available choice. It has less power and torque than the 4S, which has 523 bhp and 640 nm while in launch control mode, with only 424 horsepower and 345 nm respectively. However, adding the Performance Battery Plus significantly increases those numbers to 469bhp and 357Nm.

How many Porsche Taycans have been sold?

Porsche sold more than 80,000 Porsche Taycans worldwide in total (including over 40,000 during the last 12 months). For comparison, the company sold 41,296 electric cars in the first 12 months of 2021, increasing 106% year over year and accounting for 13.7% of the overall volume.

Is the Porsche Taycan hybrid or electric?
