The entry-level, four-cylinder Macan is available for that price, and I’m delighted to say that even in its most basic configuration, Porsche’s little SUV completely delivers.

The only deviation from the Macan’s unfussy, T-shaped dashboard and new center console is the chronograph, which is located above the infotainment screen.

Despite the small doors, entering is not difficult, and the front seats are standard 8-way power adjustable and heated. The Premium Package on the test car also included heated and ventilated front seat cushions. Upgraded 14-way power-adjustable seats with memory for the driver’s preferences were another feature of the Macan test vehicle.

Excellent seat comfort is provided, and the Bordeaux Red over Black leather in the evaluation car was supple and smooth. But if you want to test out the Macan’s handling talents, I suggest purchasing the Adaptive Sport Seats Plus, which will probably keep you more securely in place. The steering wheel’s thin appearance and sharply radiused leading edge, which makes it difficult to grip, are other features I did not like about the Macan.

The new touch-sensing, haptic feedback buttons on the center console and the infotainment system are illuminated when you turn the engine start switch to the left of the steering wheel, igniting the Macan. They are unfortunately entrenched within a glossy black surface, and glare can occasionally be an issue. Additionally, asking a driver to modify the heat, safety system, and driving character settings when they are looking so far off the road doesn’t seem like the smartest move.

The revised center console, according to Porsche, offers storage space and a tiny tray in front of the cupholders. It’s a convenient spot to store a set of house keys or the key fob for the Macan. The optional wireless smartphone charger unfortunately takes up valuable space within the bin beneath the sliding center armrest. The only other storage options are the glove box and the bins on the door panels.

Although the Porsche Macan’s interior is compact, if you’re not tall, a family of four can fit inside. My 11-year-old was not pleased about being seated behind me in the Macan’s claustrophobic back seat because I am six feet tall. I had to spread my legs around the sides of the seatback in order to get in with the driver’s seat in my favorite position. The seat itself was pleasant, though, and getting in and out was surprisingly simple despite that.

The Macan’s cabin expresses suitable levels of luxury, technological innovation, and driver-focused minimalism because the majority of the interior is covered with high-quality materials. It’s a clever trick to execute. But I did observe that in direct sunshine, the plastic on the door sills looked excessively shiny.
