How To Replace Porsche Macan Rear Wiper?

  • Even easier is changing the rear wiper.
  • You will need to exert some force to lift the rear wiper arm off the glass and snap-off the wiper blade as demonstrated in this video from 1A Auto Parts.
  • Push the replacement wiper blade into place after lining up the bracket with the slots on the wiper arm.

This, I believe, is the thread on replacing the back wipers most recently (at least the the most recent I found). If you are a new owner and you can’t locate instructions in the owner’s manual on how to change the rear wiper, you are neither insane or stupid. There isn’t any, as far as I’m aware. I looked through the instructions for approximately two hours, as well as searched on this forum, YouTube, and other websites. The most useful parts of this thread for me were the diagrams.

It took me around 90 seconds to remove the old blade and reinstall the new one once I figured it out after reading this thread. Simply squeeze the two little wings that are located an inch from the wiper arm’s end to detach. Simply move the blade assembly slightly away from the glass and off to the right while applying pressure. Only a few inches of the arm assembly are raised above the glass. The two wings on the pivoting plastic component that is attached to the new blade assembly must be squeezed together while the little tab at the end of the wiper arm is inserted under the blade assembly.

The plastic pivoting component is simply snapped onto the blade arm. There is no need to remove this component because it is already affixed to the Porsche blade assembly. I only bring it up now because the dealer didn’t have any rear wipers in stock when I recently took delivery of my CPO 2017 and it needed one. Since I live 1.5 hours away from the dealer where I made the purchase, it was thoughtful of them to ship or mail the new blade as soon as it arrived. Unfortunately, during delivery, one of the tiny squeezing wings came off. I had to buy a new blade because my local dealer was unable to replace the blade assembly from another dealer. I was able to fix the broken part on the supplied blade assembly since the pivoting component with the squeezing wings just snaps off the pivot posts. I apologize if this is too much information, however in another thread, this pivoting component was referred to as an adaptor. It is merely a component of the typical Porsche part.

I recently replaced the Bosch A381H rear wiper blade.

The rear wiper on my May 2015 Macan was juddering because it was a little worn out. Last year, I had the dealer implement the warranty remedy, which solved the factory-installed judder option (!).

I paid between PS10 and PS12 for Bosch part number A381H through Amazon, depending on the vendor.

It’s too late for you, but removing the rear wiper blade and installing it upside down by flipping the clip that holds it to the wiper arm actually works. The idea comes from an obscure page on this website. It takes three minutes to complete and produces an incredibly quiet wiper action.

Even after receiving a reluctant dealer bulletin fix, my rear wiper has caused me a great deal of trouble.

I took a peek today, but I’m not sure what part is being turned around or reversed. Is it the metal attachment’s C-shaped clips?

By compressing the two lugs that fit into a groove at the end of the wiper arm, you can remove the blade from the arm. The wiper blade and plastic fitting can then be removed from the arm. The fitting has a “rocker piece” with two brackets in the shape of a “C” that attach to two tiny pins. Gently pry the “C” clips off the pins to separate the rocker from the blade, then turn the blade 180 degrees and clip the fitting back in place. Install the assembly in the wiper arm once again.

Keep in mind that the arm can only be raised partially off the screen. While performing this modification, you might want to cover the glass with a cloth.

Can we fix my car’s rear wiper?

Yes, the rear W/S wiper may be conveniently fixed.

It would be adequate to use a defogger. However, installing a rear wiper is worthwhile if the car is used frequently in rainy weather.

I asked Maruti about it, and they informed me that the back wipers couldn’t be fixed. Can you provide further information on how and where this can be repaired in Bangalore?

Can we add aftermarket rear wipers?

No. However, aftermarket shops may make improvements, but its usefulness will still be questioned. You must replace the boot gate with a top-of-the-line ZXi model, which most likely has a rear wiper. The original design and usefulness of an existing door could be hampered if some “Jugaad” is attempted.

Can you change your own windshield wipers?

You simply need your hands to replace the windshield wiper blades on the majority of autos. Find the wiper blades on your automobile, then raise the wiper arms. Under spring stress, they will typically hold themselves in place, giving you space to quickly change the blades. To access the arms on some cars, you might need to lift the hood.

The next step, which you must work out independently, is how to physically remove the wiper blade from the arm. There are numerous manufacturer designs for this connection, but the majority require a little amount of fumbling and little bending to remove the wiper. For instructions on how to remove the blades from your automobile without breaking anything, we advise consulting your owner’s manual.

When you take the wipers off, drive very carefully. “I always protect the windshield with anything when I do a set of windshield wipers, whether it’s on my personal truck or a McLaren F1,” Hines says.

The metal wiper arm is prepared to make contact with the glass while the wiper blades are not in use. It could slap down and fracture the windshield if you unintentionally bump against it when you are switching out the blades. Hines claims that he “never likes to let the arm stand in the air without a wiper blade on it.” “I’ve been on the verge of tears from breaking windshields,”

We advise laying down a towel or two to serve as a barrier between the windshield and the wiper arm. In this manner, if the arm does unexpectedly swing downward, the towel will be hit rather than your priceless windshield. You definitely don’t want a fast DIY project to turn into a $300 windshield replacement.

Lay your replacement set of wipers next to the ones you just removed. Verify that both have the same size, length, and connecting points. After making sure your new wipers will fit, install them by following the same procedure you used to remove the old wipers. Put the wiper arms back onto the windshield after attaching the new wipers to each of them.

To verify sure your wipers are operating as intended, get in your car, turn on the accessories, and turn them on. Make sure they’re not contacting any area of the automobile that they shouldn’t be, such the windshield frame or cowl. Congratulations, you’re done if they’re not.

Is a rear wiper required?

If you’ve read our previous blog, you’ll be familiar with how different vehicle types’ flat or steeply sloping backs alter the direction of airflow across them.

The area right behind the vehicle has lower air pressure, which draws in the surrounding air and swirls it around, kicking up various types of dust and depositing it on the back of the car.

Any dirt or extra water that has gathered on the rear windscreen will just stay there until the rear wiper removes it because the airflow isn’t directed over the windscreen.

Why don’t sedans experience this problem? Simply put, the airflow can move across the surface of the car considerably more quickly and directly since their back ends taper off more gently.

As a result, there is no need for a rear wiper blade because air may also move across the windscreen and remove any water that is present on the surface.

If the car had a rear wiper, it would lift due to the car’s more aerodynamic airflow, making it about as useful as a chocolate teapot.

How is a windshield arm removed?

Slide the locking clip out by lifting the wiper arm a few inches off the glass. Pull the arm away from the splined shaft after lowering it.

Every wiper arm has a hinge at the base that enables it to flex as it follows the window’s curve. Even with a fresh blade, if the wiper skips over some areas, it’s likely that the hinge is corroded and binding. Due to their little use, rear window wipers are the most frequently affected.

Although the hinge can be oiled, the corrosion and binding almost always come back. Replace the wiper arm in order to solve the issue permanently (available at an auto parts store).

A splined shaft accepts all wiper arms (Photo 1). Some have nuts holding them in place. Simply lift the protective cap, release the nut, and pull off the arm to replace that type (Photo 2).

The locking clip secures the other type in place. Install the replacement arm after unlocking it as demonstrated in the bottom picture (Photo 3).

Why your wipers shouldn’t be left up?

CLERMONT — For car owners, the snowy weather frequently implies more effort, but there is one shortcut that may end up costing you money.

In order to prevent their windshield wipers from sticking to the glass during the winter, you may have noticed that many drivers in Northeast Ohio raise them straight up into the air. However, doing so puts stress on the spring that keeps the wiper arms against the windshield.

According to William Robinson, general manager of Terry’s North Coast Auto, “I guess that would absolutely assist you in scraping your windshield off if the wiper blades were frozen to the windshield, but it can be a very costly mistake in severe winds.”

According to Robinson, leaving the wipers up exposes the mechanical parts, including plastic gears that could be harmed or weakened by strong wind gusts. The rubber blade might also be blown off as a result of the exposure to the environment.

According to Robinson, if the wind blows the wiper blade into the cold windshield and cracks the glass, or if someone crashes your automobile.

To avoid the development of show and ice, you might also save time by covering the entire windshield with a blanket, tarp, or even a piece of cardboard. Winter wiper blades are yet another essential component.

The small plastic joints and moving parts are absent from the winter blades, which are now known as profile blades, according to Robinson. There are no parts on the wiper blade that could freeze and prevent it from functioning correctly because it is a single piece.

Yet another grave error Driving on bald or old tires is the wintertime driving habit that Robinson’s shop observes the most. The coin technique can be used to check your tires. It’s time to replace your tires if you stick a coin or quarter into the tread and see George Washington’s or Abraham Lincoln’s head.

Whether your car is front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, Robinson added, “having strong traction in the front and the rear is quite crucial.” “Having decent tires on the back of your car is crucial to preventing control loss while driving at faster speeds and negotiating turns.”
