The cap came off after I moved a little screwdriver that just fit in the tiny hole back and forth. Be aware that other aftermarket wheels and caps do NOT fit the center cap’s size and fit. Even though the size of the center cap was near, the mounting clips on the inside of the cap did not lock on when I purchased a new set of Vorsteiner wheels.

I accidentally omitted colored center caps from my build. After the fact, I learned that they were actually less priced ($169) from Suncoast than they were ($190) as a factory option, thus there was no real harm done.
But I’m interested in how the caps are taken off. Older model caps included tiny holes you could hook a tool or small allen wrench through to lift the cap off. My GT3 center lock caps have a notch that made it possible to pry them off with the included tool or a little screwdriver.
There don’t seem to be any holes or notches seen in the Taycan cap images on the Suncoast website. How do they therefore appear? Is it necessary to remove the wheel, or is there another trick? If I had wheels to look at, that might be evident to me, but my car hasn’t arrived yet.
I recently bought four extra 17″ Turbo Twist rims, but they are missing center caps with the Porsche insignia.
Do you pry off the wheel after removing it from the automobile or do you unscrew something on the backside?
My task will be to remove one of my current center caps so that I can precisely measure a 3D model and 3D print several replacements for my spare rims.

I believe the cap has one little hole or possibly two. You remove the top off after inserting a unique Porsche tool into these holes. A paper clip could also be used.
Push them out from behind, as Jay said. Put the handle of a hammer on the cap from the backside of the wheel and use your palm to pop the hammer’s head off.
By cutting off one end of a metal coat hanger halfway between the hanger portion and the end, you can create a center cap puller. Then, using a pair of pliers, gently bend the loose ends of it at a 90-degree angle. Its width can be adjusted by aligning it with the holes in the middle cap, holding it at an angle, inserting the ends, pushing in to straighten it, and then removing the caps. It is essentially the same item that Porsche will sell you for $35. If you’re unsure, look at what they look like on eBay or Suncoast and you’ll have an excellent notion of how to style it. It’s extremely simple, and I always carry mine in my tool pack with the lugs’ locking key.
Yes, but since I already own a 3D printer, I have to use it to create things in order to justify my purchase.
The size of all Porsche center caps is the same.
Without a doubt, they are the right sizes and offsets. The middle cap was the sole item to surface. So 75mm. Consequently, several of the items I see on eBay only list the car fitment instead of sizes.

In the middle of most wheels, there is a hole. The centerbore is the name of that hole. The centerbore’s functions are as follows:
- Keep the wheel and hub in proper alignment.
- lessening wheel vibration
The issue is that the centerbore leaves the spindle nut exposed if the center cap is missing. The seal is the only line of protection for the wheel bearing. When you drive, a lot of dirt, moisture, road salt, and grime are in contact with your wheels. The spindle nut and wheel bearing may become contaminated by those contaminants. This could result in:
- Spindle and spindle nut corrosion
- Failure of the seal causes the wheel bearing to fail.
