Introduction and Identification
Porsche Design, an Austrian product design studio, and LaCie, a French electronics manufacturer, worked together to create the Porsche Design USB-C Hard Drive. The hard drive is packaged in an aluminum shell with silver, gold, and rose gold accents. You can attach the disk to any computer with a USB connection using the USB-C port on the case.
Unfortunately, it is more difficult to open the enclosure than it is with other drives. But when you remove the casing, you can use a new 2.5″ hard drive to replace the one inside “SSD or hard drive must be 7 mm thick or less. any additional 2.5 “Hard drive cannot be accommodated in the enclosure.
How is a LaCie hard drive enclosure opened?
- To identify the hard drive to remove while replacing a faulty disk, navigate to Dashboard > RAID Management (Bottom slot = 1 and Top slot = 2).
- After opening the enclosure if you’re changing the one, check sure the disks are clearly labeled.
- Unplug the power supply and shut off the gadget. Before continuing, wait 60 minutes for the unit to cool and relax.
- Pull the front lip of the casing, particularly in the center where the top shell connects to the bottom plate, to release the Network Space MAX. To carefully separate the top shell from the bottom plate at the center clasp, LaCie advises using your index finger.
- If disk 2 has failed, carefully remove the top disk from the top bay by releasing the SATA connector. Remove the top disk (Disk 2) if Disk 1 has failed, then remove the bottom disk (Disk 1.) Each mechanism has 4 screws, 2 on each side, which need to be removed.
- Remove both disks if you’re replacing the enclosure.
Important information

Drag the files to the LaCie drive while continuing to hold down the mouse (usually an orange icon, but some drives have an icon that represents the actual external drive.)
