The Taycan’s estimated basic model range of 200 miles is only half that of its nearest rival, the Tesla Model S. To assist solve the problem, Porsche installs a rapid charging system in every Taycan. Additionally, the Taycan is exceedingly difficult to surpass in terms of enjoyment per mile.
The Taycan is everything you would expect from an all-electric Porsche: nimble, quick, and stylish. While it might not have the same bladder-busting range as some EVs, it more than makes up for it with a superb driving experience.

How quick is the electric Porsche Taycan?
With its all-electric Taycan, Porsche declared in early February that it had broken the Guinness World Record for the highest speed by a vehicle indoors after exceeding 165 km/h in a convention center in New Orleans.
The vehicle used to attempt the record was a top-of-the-line Taycan Turbo S with 751 horsepower, a quantity that contributed to the car’s 2.8-second 0–100 km/h time.
The wall at the end of the one million-square-foot Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, served as the record attempt’s limiting factor despite the Taycan’s typical top speed of 162 mph (260 km/h).

The Porsche Taycan can drive over 300 miles on a single charge, which is comparable to the distance a sports car can cover with a full tank of gas. This is made possible by a sizable battery pack. The Taycan does require more time to recharge than a 911, but thanks to quick charging, an 80% charge is accessible in just 20 minutes.
Customers who purchase a Taycan from Porsche receive three years of free access to the Ionity charging network, and certain Porsche Centers also provide turbo charging, which allows drivers to add 60 miles of range in around 4.5 minutes.
The base Taycan features a 79.2kWh battery with a 71.0kWh useable capacity. With this, the range is between 231 and 276 miles. By selecting the 93.4kWh Performance Battery Plus, the useful capacity is increased to 83.7kWh, extending the range to 268–314 miles.
The 93.4kWh battery is standard on the more potent Turbo and provides an electric range of between 2708 and 315 miles. Last but not least, the Turbo S has the same 93.4kWh battery and has a range of 273 to 291 miles. The WLTP standard is the foundation for each of these numbers. What you accomplish in the real world will rely on variables like the weather, car accessories, and how aggressively you drive.
With a maximum rate of 225kW, charging on the 4S is a little slower than on the other versions. To reach 270kW, the same as the Turbo and Turbo S variants, choose the Performance Battery Plus.
The Taycan can be charged from 20% to 80% in less than 20 minutes using a 270kW charger, and from 90% to 100% using a 50kW charger takes roughly 90 minutes. On a larger battery, a 150kW charger can finish the same operation in about 35 minutes.
Depending on the charger, charging at home using a domestic wall box should take between 9 and 10.5 hours.
Porsche Taycan or Tesla: which is faster?
*Edit 6/30/21: Although the video is no longer accessible, the article will remain online for the time being because the statistics are still from the actual 1/4-mile runs and can be used for comparison. * Edit: We located a second copy of the video, which is now embedded above.
The YouTube channel Blue Pill or Red Pill has created the finest alternative until we can truly arrange a Tesla Model S Plaid and a Porsche Taycan Turbo S. To compare the data from a dragy app that was gathered during different quarter-mile runs with the two cars, they digitally align the two vehicles.
I haven’t had the opportunity to drive a Tesla Model S Plaid yet, but I have driven a couple Porsche Taycan Turbo Ss, and the Taycan Turbo S is so insanely fast that it’s difficult for me to fully understand how fast the Model S Plaid is. In fact, I really felt a touch lightheaded after performing 4 consecutive 0 to 100 mph launches with the Taycan Turbo S.
Being able to run a quarter of a mile more than a full second faster than a Taycan Turbo S makes it difficult for me to understand how it must feel to be in a Tesla Model S Plaid. And even then, it’s not the quickest the Model S Plaid has ever completed a quarter mile. We recently shared with you a clip from the Situation Plaid YouTube channel that showed the Model S Plaid covering the quarter-mile in under 9.22 seconds. Just mind-blowing, that.
Figures from the video comparison include:
Both vehicles take off at the same moment and arrive at the 60-foot mark in exactly 1.56 seconds. But at that point, the Model S Plaid starts to distance itself from the Porsche. The Plaid accelerates to 60 mph in 2.28 seconds, which is 0.25 seconds quicker than the Taycan Turbo S.
The Plaid did not employ the 1-foot rollout necessary to reduce its 0 to 60 time (really, its 6 to 60 time) to under 2 seconds and was not on a surface prepared with VHT TrackBite, as can be seen from the fact that the 0 to 60 time was not less than 2 seconds.
Who really cares about that one measure, in my opinion, and why is Tesla worried so much about advertising the Model S Plaid as being able to run from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than 2 seconds? All you need to know is that it completes the quarter mile in 9.3 seconds.
Look at the times between 60 and 130 mph. Taycan Turbo S is defeated by the Model S Plaid by more than 3 seconds. In fact, the Model S Plaid accelerates from 0 to 130 mph faster than the Taycan Turbo S does from 60 to 130 mph—a feat that takes the Taycan under 8 seconds to complete.
We’re confident that soon we’ll get to watch an actual race between these two EV powerhouses on the same track with the same tyres. You may compare the statistics in the video above for the time being, though.
A Tesla versus a Porsche, which is more expensive?
Discover the brand-new Porsche Taycan for 2022 and compare it to the most recent Tesla Model S in terms of performance, usability, style, charging, and other factors. Compared to the new 2022 Tesla Model S’s $129,990 starting price, it has a lower starting price of $86,700. Porsche delivers premium features at a lesser cost, customization choices, and an aerodynamic appearance that cuts through the air more effectively.
Why blend in when you can stand out in the new, luxury Porsche Taycan? There is no reason why all electric sports sedans must have the same uninspired exterior and uninspiring sterile inside. Tesla versus Porsche: which automobile is more expensive?
The Taycan 4S starts at $103,800 including delivery fees in terms of cost. There are plenty more goods in the Porsche stable to add to your super EV, including Porsche’s InnoDrive active safety suite, which will cost an additional $3,600, and the performance package, which adds another $6,400 to the price, bringing the total to $113,800.
The price of the Base Model S Long Range is $79,990 plus delivery. In comparison to the Porsche, the Tesla has less options. The cost of Tesla’s self-driving technology is an additional $8,000, in addition to the $8,500 added for premium paint, interior, and wheels. The Model S still costs $96,490 in total.
The Porsche is by far the most upscale-looking and handling vehicle, but that upscaleness comes at a price. If money were no object, everyone would be driving the new Taycan, but in the real world, the Tesla Model S is the best value for the money for speed, range, and features.
What is the Taycan battery life?
Batteries for 2021 Porsche Taycans typically last 3-5 years, although this can vary based on a number of factors, including the weather, the battery type, driving patterns, and more. You can increase the lifespan of your Taycan battery by doing the following: Storing your vehicle indoors, away from abrupt changes in temperature or climate
