Ferry Porsche’s bedroom contained the drafting board. But at the start of 1931, the office relocated to Stuttgart, first renting space in the heart of the city. In the automotive industry, the concept of a neutral design office was still novel. At the time, Ferdinand Porsche had no plans to produce his own automobiles. His goal was to complete technical tasks for various clients, collect license fees, and collect royalties from patents. Ninety to one hundred Porsche Tiger chassis were made, and some of them were eventually modified into Ferdinand-class Panzerjager tank destroyers. The long-range weapon, equipped with a Krupps turret and an 88 mm anti-tank gun, could destroy enemy tanks before they could engage in effective fire from their own positions.

Porsche was detained by French soldiers after the war ended in 1945 (due to his Nazi affiliation) and made to serve a 22-month prison sentence. Ferdinand Anton oversaw the development of the Cisitalia, a brand-new racing vehicle produced by the Porsche business, while he was a prisoner. Porsche reportedly told his son upon his return, “I would have built it precisely the same, down to the last screw.” When the father-son partnership unveiled the Porsche sports vehicle in 1950, they went on to write automotive history.
