For performance sedans, Porsche’s Taycan Turbo S redefines quick.
The top-of-the-line model of Porsche’s electric vehicle, which will debut in 2020, accelerates quickly off the mark and is easy to recharge.
The 2020 Porsche Taycan is an all-electric vehicle. It accelerates to 60 mph in Turbo S trim in 2.4 seconds and has a top speed of 162 mph, according to the manufacturer. A 2016 Cayman GT4 lapped the famed 12.8-mile Nurburgring circuit faster than a prototype Taycan. The electric Porsche can even charge its 93.4 kWh battery from 5 to 80 percent at the fastest charging points in just 22 minutes when used in the real world.
However, none of these achievements compare to how fast the Taycan persuades you that it is a Porsche. The family resemblance is obvious whether you floor the accelerator, swivel the steering wheel into a sweeper, or bomb over a bumpy section of pavement. The Taycan Turbo S’s characteristics are as loyal to the Porsche spirit as the car’s starting price of $186,350, even though it weighs 5246 pounds and lacks all the personality that comes with an internal-combustion engine.
What did it take to break the record for the fastest vehicle speed inside a building in the Guinness Book of World Records?
It takes a lot of work to break a Guinness Book of World Records rule! Leh Keen, the driver of the 2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S, had to start and end his run at a stop. Without any safety nets, doors that could be opened, or other means of escape, the run had to be made inside the structure. It is understandable why the record persisted for seven years. Independent adjudicators have confirmed that he was able to surpass the previous record of 86 miles per hour and accelerate the 2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S to a speed of 102.6 miles per hour.
Actual Range: 290 to 560 kilometers
a description of the real-world range in several contexts. Cold weather: “worst-case” depending on use of heating and a temperature of –10°C. Mild weather: “best-case” based on a 23°C temperature with no A/C use. A constant speed of 110 km/h is assumed for “Highway” numbers. The actual range will be influenced by driving style, speed, weather, and road conditions.
Other Porsche Taycan Information
The vehicle, according to AutoTop NL, has 761 horsepower (1,050 NM) and can sprint from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 2.8 seconds. The Taycan Turbo S can get you from zero to 60 mph on our soil in 2.6 seconds. It can reach 260 km/h in top speed (162 mph). One of the fastest production vehicles ever manufactured, it competes with the Tesla Model S.
For those who don’t know, there isn’t a speed restriction on the German Autobahn, at least not everywhere. Thus, this driver is not in violation of the law. However, we don’t advise traveling at peak speeds on any public road, regardless of the posted speed limit. But pretending you’re in charge of this thing is kind of cool. Porsche’s absurdly quick EV sets an unexpected record.
Porsche has probably considered breaking any EV-related records with the Taycan—or may even have already done so. The Taycan recently set a record for the longest continuous drift in an electric car and is the quickest four-door EV around the Nurburgring. It is also the fastest EV on Road Atlanta when equipped with Turbo S. And as long as we’re talking inside, it’s now the quickest automobile in the world.
Yes, Leh Keen, a racing driver, recently broke the official indoor land speed record in a Porsche Taycan Turbo S. There’s no doubt that the 750 horsepower and extraordinarily savage off-the-line performance of the Taycan’s fastest and fastest variant led to their selection. After all, the Taycan Turbo S impressed us with an astounding zero-to-60-mph pace of 2.4 seconds during our initial testing in February of last year. It is unquestionably the ideal car to break this record and one of the fastest vehicles we’ve ever tested.
The New Orleans Convention Center served as the venue for this album. The largest continuous exhibit hall in the US is housed there, with a total area of more than a million square feet. The length of the empty hall made it the perfect place for a record attempt, even if there was a significant obstacle to overcome.
The NOCC’s flooring, like those in other convention centers, are polished concrete, which makes them more slicker than regular road surfaces. The Taycan’s tires were heated for a bit more traction and to prevent Porsche from breaking the speed record for an indoor vehicle collision. A requirement that any vehicle attempting to break a record be non-homologated, as was the case with the previous record-setter, a rally-prepared Ford Fiesta driven by Tanner Foust, also prevented this Taycan from having its headlights.
After a few trial runs, Keen reached 102.6 mph inside, a speed that was significantly above the previous record of 86 mph and was confirmed by impartial adjudicators. Porsche is very nice. Keep the eccentric albums coming.

The Porsche Taycan can drive over 300 miles on a single charge, which is comparable to the distance a sports car can cover with a full tank of gas. This is made possible by a sizable battery pack. The Taycan does require more time to recharge than a 911, but thanks to quick charging, an 80% charge is accessible in just 20 minutes.
Customers who purchase a Taycan from Porsche receive three years of free access to the Ionity charging network, and certain Porsche Centers also provide turbo charging, which allows drivers to add 60 miles of range in around 4.5 minutes.
The base Taycan features a 79.2kWh battery with a 71.0kWh useable capacity. With this, the range is between 231 and 276 miles. By selecting the 93.4kWh Performance Battery Plus, the useful capacity is increased to 83.7kWh, extending the range to 268–314 miles.
The 93.4kWh battery is standard on the more potent Turbo and provides an electric range of between 2708 and 315 miles. Last but not least, the Turbo S has the same 93.4kWh battery and has a range of 273 to 291 miles. The WLTP standard is the foundation for each of these numbers. What you accomplish in the real world will rely on variables like the weather, car accessories, and how aggressively you drive.
With a maximum rate of 225kW, charging on the 4S is a little slower than on the other versions. To reach 270kW, the same as the Turbo and Turbo S variants, choose the Performance Battery Plus.
The Taycan can be charged from 20% to 80% in less than 20 minutes using a 270kW charger, and from 90% to 100% using a 50kW charger takes roughly 90 minutes. On a larger battery, a 150kW charger can finish the same operation in about 35 minutes.
Depending on the charger, charging at home using a domestic wall box should take between 9 and 10.5 hours.
Are Taycans quicker than Teslas?
Two of the fastest vehicles on the road are both of them. Because of those powerful electric motors, they both accelerate more quickly than the quickest race cars and super vehicles. Both have incredible 0 to 60 mph times. Although Motor Trend and others have timed the Taycan Turbo S at 2.4 seconds, it will go you from 0 to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds. The Tesla finishes in 2.3 seconds, which is a very small difference.
Why moves the Taycan so quickly?
When you start taking design and mechanics into account, numbers and figures only go so far. The Porsche Taycan has a real advantage over the Model S, say the experts at Engineering Explained. According to expert Jason Fenske, the Taycan’s gearing is the only factor that accounts for this advantage.
The Porsche Taycan has a whole different transmission than the majority of electric vehicles, as Fenske explains. While other vehicles (such the Model S) employ a one-speed transmission, the Taycan uses a two-speed one in the back and a one-speed unit in the front. The Porsche Taycan is now the quickest all-electric vehicle on the road thanks to a completely new set of equations that are produced as a result.
In order to quadruple the torque component originating from the electric engine and traveling to the ground before moving into the more economical second gear, the Taycan maintains first gear until it reaches 62 miles per hour, according to Road and Track. Consequently, the Porsche Taycan produces more wheel torque in that first gear despite the numbers.
The rear electric motor is able to spin at a lower speed after it reaches that point at 62 miles per hour because “the torque figures for any gear level off.” When traveling at low and high speeds, the Tesla automobile can only use one fixed ratio. The Tesla Model S cannot match the torque and grip of the Taycan’s wheels.
Can the Porsche Taycan use a supercharger from Tesla?
So, is it possible to use a Tesla Supercharger to charge a Porsche Taycan? Tesla just began a test program that will permit non-Tesla drivers to charge their electric vehicles at Tesla Superchargers, according to CarBuzz. A few Supercharger locations in Europe have this test operation. The pilot program currently follows a simple procedure. Owners of electric vehicles other than Teslas must download the Tesla app and register. They just need to follow the directions after that.
Since Tesla Superchargers use a charging wire exclusive to Tesla models, not all vehicles may be compatible with them. The Taycan is one of the EV vehicles that can be charged at a Tesla Supercharger, but many EVs can use those cables. The price of the entire service will vary depending on a number of factors.
Since European electricity rates differ from American electricity pricing, Tesla is currently doing this pilot there. Anyone who registers for a charging membership may also qualify for savings from Tesla, however the cost of that membership may vary.
Porsche or a BMW, which is quicker?
Porsche 911 Carrera vs. BMW M4: While the BMW M4 has greater power, the Porsche 911 Carrera has a more responsive ride and accelerates to 60 mph more quickly.
Audi or Porsche, which is superior?
A fantastic place to start your search is with Audi models. Both of these brands are known for their high standards of craftsmanship and aesthetic appeal, but Porsche capitalizes on its track record for performance by offering higher top speeds, more off-road features, and quicker charging times.
Which Taycan can travel the farthest?
The Porsche Taycan 4S with the Performance Battery Plus has the most range, with a maximum range of 318 miles on a full charge.
Which automobile has the quickest 0-60 time?
The 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet is the fastest convertible we’ve ever tested, despite being only the seventh-fastest car to reach 60 mph. A 3.7-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine with a rear mount that produces 640 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque is mated to an eight-speed twin-clutch automatic transmission and a torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system. At the risk of ruining the surprise, get used to seeing these specifications for the 911 Turbo S. From 0 to 60 miles per hour, the 2021 911 Turbo S Cabriolet accelerates in 2.40 seconds.
