Everyone seemed to agree on the necessity of bringing soft-sided luggage as the one and only thing in general. In this manner, you might still move or massage something into position if it didn’t fit perfectly.

I did the unimaginable and told my wife she couldn’t wear that fifth pair of heels without any hard evidence, taking my life into my own hands.

Thankfully, she was incredibly accommodating, and we both packed less than usual. One full-sized, wheeled carry-on, a soft-sided suit carrier, an expandable gym duffel bag, and two backpacks made up our luggage. The luggage we brought is depicted in the photo below.

It turned out that I did it for no reason at all, risking my life, limb, and possibly a night on the sofa. Although it’s a good idea to pack soft-sided luggage, not all of your belongings need to be packed in duffels. The Boxster has a huge amount of freight and luggage space! Even though it’s not a Cayenne, the front luggage compartment is deep enough to fit two full-size, wheeled carry on bags, a backpack, and several other items crammed in close proximity to them. As the image below demonstrates, I would have had more room if I had brought a second wheeled carry-on instead of the blue duffel.

Although it is not as deep as the front, the rear luggage compartment is substantially wider, and it easily fit the suit carrier and larger backpack.

What these photographs don’t show is that there was still plenty of room to fit a lot more even with all of these bags. In fact, we could have easily added another soft-side bag to the front and still had enough for on-the-go shopping.

Don’t be concerned about the lack of storage or luggage capacity if you’re considering buying a Boxster. Even the biggest clothes horse wouldn’t have much trouble living out of the Boxster for a two or three week excursion.

Be sure to take everything that can possibly melt in the front space (makeup, perishable food, coolers, etc.) because you don’t want to find out the hard way. With the mid-engine sitting against the trunk wall, I’m not sure what temperatures are reached in the back trunk compartment, but I do know that it could quickly double as a food warmer.
