Although the vibration is irritating when driving on small roads, I truly appreciate the car. Have you have any recommendations?

A. Though it is a feature of the design, certain continuously variable transmissions (CVTs), like the one in your Rogue, have a mildly unwelcome vibration. I would like the dealer to look for any technical service bulletins that address vibration before I assumed this was typical. My go-to technical database, AllData, contained a description of a low speed vibration brought on by the rear drive unit’s electric-controlled connection. I would also like the dealer to do a vibration analysis to identify the cause of the vibration and ascertain whether it is in fact a typical characteristic or if there is a problem.

I wish us all luck because I haven’t seen anyone with that fix yet. We have strictly adhered to the owner’s manual requirements for our newer Xtrails, so the vehicle simply has a manufacturer’s defect. Nissan should therefore “fess up,” apologize to us all, and provide the new ECU or updates without charge. And there you have it—the results of my online research, my personal experiences, and of course the application of the relevant logic.

To prevent consumers from wasting money on new transmissions or gearboxes, Nissan needs to complete the software-related countermeasures I heard about and provide the aforementioned changes to the ECU. The reason is that since the transmissions might be made in exactly the same way, they might have the same issue.
