Wesley Chapel Nissan wasn’t the first auto shop to open on S.R. 54 in Wesley Chapel (that was Heritage, now Parks Ford), but since it began 15 years ago, owner Jay Rosario and his staff have undoubtedly been among the most neighborhood-focused car shops in our region (in 2004).
On May 20, the public was invited to watch Rosario and his entire management team (including my friend Troy Stevenson, a member of the Wesley Chapel Rotary Club) hand the reins over to Wesley Chapel Nissan’s new owners, the Morgan Auto Group, in one of the most unusual business transitions I’ve ever seen.
At least 100 people, including Pasco County Clerk and Comptroller Dr. Paula O’Neil, as well as numerous members of the Wesley Chapel Rotary and the North Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce, attended the event, which was attended by CEO Brett Morgan (at left in the photo below), known for his TV commercials with Tampa Bay Lightning star Tyler Johnson. Morgan brought along new Wesley Chapel Nissan general manager Paul Snedic (right) and the dealership’s new management team. In both enterprises, Stevenson and the dealership have been essential players.
Wesley Chapel Nissan has hosted a number of fundraisers for Dr. O’Neil’s “Clerks for a Cure,” as well as casino nights for the Rotary and numerous chamber events. She even had her book signing at WC Nissan to celebrate the publication of her book Fighting Cancer Like A Girl.
A month or so before she formally leaves her position, O’Neil gave Rosario a plaque and declared him a “Honorary Deputy Clerk.”
O’Neil (at right in the shot) said Rosario, “You have always stood with me, always supported me.” “You have demonstrated for us what it is to be a part of a community. Know that we are always on your side wherever you go.”
However, when she presented Rosario with a framed card with sentiments from each employee, the dealership’s director of internet sales, Crystal Enger (top right photo on the following page), stole the show and the hearts of everyone there. Even though the present was lovely, Crystal’s words, “You are the reason we can develop; whether it was someone who had been sleeping in their car, someone who had once cleaned homes, or someone who didn’t know where they would get their next meal, you offered everyone an opportunity. We appreciate your heart and who you are.”
No one in the room was able to keep a dry eye after that. In addition to being an Orange County Reserve Deputy and a multiple award-winning businessman, Rosario was one of the first responders to the Pulse Night Club shooting.
WC Nissan is the group’s 12th dealership, making the Morgan Auto Group, which has 36 total dealerships, one of the largest in the state and undoubtedly among the largest in the Tampa Bay area (which also includes MINI of Wesley Chapel).
At the meeting between Snedic and the new Nissan executive team, Morgan remarked, “We’re all local; we’re right here in Tampa Bay.” And the truth is that we want to keep our connections with this community.

On Monday, May 20, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Wesley Chapel Nissan held a barbeque event as a thank you and farewell to former owners Jay Rosario and Troy Stevenson in charge of public relations. At the BBQ to bid Jay and Troy farewell and good luck, there was a sizable gathering. The Morgan Auto Group will now own and operate Wesley Chapel Nissan.
