When it was introduced in 2010, the Nissan Juke’s original design was unlike anything else on the road. It had an intriguing split headlamp design, with the headlights under the grille and the indicators situated on top of the front wings. At the back, the boomerang-shaped taillights and wide wheel arches gave the car a boxy appearance. In 2014, a facelift added new light cluster designs and a reworked rear bumper.
The new model’s style is obviously influenced by its forerunner, but it has a more certain appearance thanks to wider grille, slimmer LED daytime running lights, and sharper metal creases. While the rear end receives sharp new brake lights akin to those on the Nissan Micra, the new grille aligns the Juke with the larger Nissan Qashqai. Rear seat space is improved by a higher roofline. Following its debut as the Nissan Qazanaconcept car at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, Nissan announced on February 11, 2009 that the model would go into production at the Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK (NMUK) facility in Sunderland, United Kingdom, during 2010.
Nissan Design Europe in London created the Juke, which was then improved upon at Nissan’s Design Center in Japan. On the Nissan B platform, it is built. Nissan’s facility in Oppama, Japan, makes the car for all other nations, while the Sunderland plant (NMUK) produces it for the European market, Australia, and New Zealand. In September 2010, the first-generation Juke F15 hit the shelves. It was constructed on Nissan’s B-Platform for small and midsize automobiles.
Although L-shaped lamps added above the grille first led people to believe they were the Juke’s headlights, they are actually turn signals and position lights. The large, spherical bulbs that are mounted in the bumper directly above the chromed V-motion Nissan emblem are the headlights. The Juke has a body style that is inspired by hatchbacks from the sides, with a loose roofline that starts at the windscreen and finishes at a little spoiler atop the rear liftgate.
The gear changer is located inside a center console with color-keyed knobs that resembles a motorcycle petrol tank. A speedometer, tachometer, and a small digital display in between that shows the trip odometer, odometer, and real-time fuel economy are all housed in the clean and sporty instrument cluster.
Five seats are available in the Juke, with two in the front and three in the back. It features a modest (297-liter) trunk that, when the 60/40 split back seats are folded down, can be increased to 1016 liters. Under the cargo compartment of the floor front-wheel-drive variants is additional storage.
The radio and Nissan’s I-CON control are located in the center console (optional). iPod compatibility, a rear-view camera, a USB port, NissanConnect GPS navigation, and Bluetooth connections are all standard equipment of the Juke (depending on the market and model).
All Jukes, with the exception of the base models, are equipped with Nissan’s Integrated Control System (I-CON), which controls the climate and drive modes (Normal, Sport, or Eco).
Nissan introduced a refreshed Juke in 2014 at the Geneva Motor Show for the 2015 model year. Several outside cosmetic improvements were made in this edition, and new standard functions were also included. Changes to the exterior include a reworked front and back bumper, new color options, and L-shaped lights that now include LED Daytime Running and turn signals. Keyless entry, a Bluetooth hands-free phone system, and a rearview camera were all featured as standard features on this version.
