okay, to begin with. The G20 does not produce the RWD SR20DE (also known as the Primera in Japan).
The Silvia Js and Qs would be equipped with the RWD Sr20DE that you’re talking to. The SR20DET is carried by the Silvia Ks.
There aren’t many differences between them. Your main concern should be that the SR20DEs have a greater CR than the SR20DETs. In order to reduce the CR and turbocharge it, that would need effectively rebuilding the block (or engine, if you want). However, for about the same cost as rebuilding the SR20DE, you could simply purchase the SR20DET.
but there’s something else here that you probably missed. The SR20DE used in the Silvia Js and Qs WASN’T produced in the United States. Therefore, you would need to have one sent in from somewhere else, like Australia, Japan, etc. Lower the CR by rebuilding the block or engine, then turbocharge it. If you prefer to waste money, go that path.

You would be comparing FWD engines if you were to compare a DE to a DET. Direct ignition and variable valve timing were not available on FWD DETs. Only the rarer (and older, with subsequently greater mileage) 54C (GTiR) will have mechanical lifters; the majority of DETs utilize hydraulic cams. Additionally, the larger injectors are irrelevant because 99.9% of people who turbocharge their DE use these or larger injectors, and injector replacement only takes 5 to 10 minutes.
Unless it’s a 54C, a DE will produce more power stock for stock. If you add cams to a DET, the lower compression will allow you to produce significantly more power (at least on pump gas). It doesn’t really matter on C16.
