The interior of the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander is far more refined than that of the previous generation, which makes an impressive first impression. From the updated center console to the sleek touchscreen (8 or 9 inches), digital instrument cluster (7 or 12.3 inches), and optional head-up display, the layout is just fantastic (10.8 inches). In the first two rows, there is plenty of room and comfortable seating, and visibility is superb.
Sadly, things only get worse from here. The third row of the Outlander is a genuine nightmare because it is now only a seven-passenger SUV. First of all, it’s difficult to maneuver the second-row seats, and the back entrance is very confined. In addition, even for children, headroom and legroom are absurd. To make additional room, you can slide the second row forward, but not if a child or adult is already seated there.

Does every Mitsubishi Outlander have a third row of seats?
A third row is uncommon in small SUVs, and there’s a good reason for that: Very few people can actually fit in such a cramped area. Kids are present, of course, but they typically require a child seat, which does not fit in the back.
Therefore, the use case is as little as the actual seats. There are just two three-row small SUVs, the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan and the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander, which is understandable. Although I haven’t seen the Tiguan in person, the image above was taken when a 6-foot-3 automotive journalist was squeezed into the third row of an Outlander. It isn’t appealing. And it includes the middle row being completely pulled forward. Also keep in mind that headroom is bad; it’s not only a problem of legroom.
This test is obviously absurd and harsh. Ultimately, the third row’s inclusion almost probably enables the Outlander to have greater cargo space than the industry average (and the mechanically similar Nissan Rogue), even if it also makes it less spacious than the CR-V, RAV4, and Tucson (more on that coming soon in a luggage test). It’s essentially an added bonus, so if you can make use of it, excellent!
Additionally, it is a vast improvement over the original Outlander third row. Specifically, the second-generation device, whose construction was so embarrassingly fragile that it would have been unreliable even in the late 2000s. It was made out of a mesh cloth that was dragged over a steel tube ring. It didn’t look like something that belonged in a moving car, more like a beach chair.
Here are two old vids of me doing it in an Outlander from 2010. In the first, I elevate the seat to demonstrate how challenging it was to assemble and how flimsy it was once it was in place. The mesh seat bottom is seen in the second video.

Does the Mitsubishi Outlander from 2022 come with captains’ chairs?
Although the Outlander lacks captains chairs, it does include a fold-down cup holder/arm rest in the middle row that gives the cabin a sensation of a captains chair because, in essence, the seat back folds down to form the armrest and slightly expands the area.
How many people can fit in a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander?
Not only does the 2022 Outlander have seating for seven, thoughtful comfort features like climate control, vibration reduction and a rear seat heater means no one’s asking ”Are we there yet? ”
Do the Outlander bucket seats come in 2022?
The dashboard is sleek, and the interior is attractive. The inside is stunning thanks to the high-quality materials used in the seats in both rows. The front bucket seats make the ride quite comfortable. The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander sports a third row of seats that are meant for kids, unlike the prior model.
Does the 2022 Outlander have enough power?
Our 5-year Cost-to-Own award has been won by the older Outlander more than once. It is easy to drive and park like a two-row SUV and offers three rows of seating like a larger vehicle. Additionally, it has a lengthy warranty and a high safety rating. However, it lacked strength and appeared outdated both inside and out.
Is Outlander 2022 a larger film?
The 2022 Outlander’s angular and chiseled style is a significant change from the prior model’s rounder and soft form. The design ethos is known as “I-Fu-Do-Do” by Mitsubishi, which the company describes as “genuine and majestic. It also claims that the popular Montero SUV from the 1980s and 1990s, another vehicle with broad shoulders, is intended to be referenced in some parts of the new design.
The updated optics make the 2022 Outlander appear enormous from a distance. However, appearances can be deceiving because the new model is only an inch longer than the previous one. It does increase in height and width by more than an inch. Standard wheels are 18 inches, but higher grades will come with massive 20-inch wheels, giving the vehicle a heftier appearance.
The revised dimensions result in more hip and leg room for all passengers in addition to giving the vehicle a rough appearance, which is part of what sells crossovers. It’s still likely that the third row, which is notoriously cramped in a car this size, will be modest. A second-row sliding mechanism that has been overhauled will provide a little extra room.
Although exact cargo capacities haven’t been disclosed, Mitsubishi claims the rear cargo area is 14 inches longer with the second and third rows folded and six inches wider than the outgoing model. The present design has a width of 31.5 inches and an useful length of 66.4 inches.
In addition, the rear seats will fold in a 40/20/40 split rather than the existing model’s 60/40 arrangement, allowing two adults to sit in the back with room to spare for bulky items like skis.
The same design elements that give the 2022 Outlander its imposing exterior also influence its interior. A large infotainment console is housed within a spacious, horizontal dashboard that has delicate chrome trim and vents. Base models have black or grey fabric with coordinating accents, while higher-level trimmings feature semi-aniline or real leather with appealing cross-hatched stitching and color accents similar to styling found in more expensive goods.
Additionally, top variants come with luxuries like a panoramic sunroof, 10-speaker Bose audio, and three-zone temperature control.
The Mitsubishi Outlander is seven-seater or not?
With seven seats and a roomy boot, the Outlander is adaptable and ready for anything, whether you’re driving to work or venturing far into the countryside.
