According to reports from outside, Lexus may be planning to add three V8-powered sedans and coupes to its F performance division later this year.
Best Car Web, a Japanese newspaper, asserts In November 2021, Lexus will introduce three new eight-cylinder, F-badged performance vehicles in Japan: the IS F, LS F, and LC F.
According to reports, the bigger GS F, whose manufacturing ended in 2020, will be partially replaced by the go-fast Lexus IS Fa variant of the brand’s mid-size IS sedan.
The vehicle will be powered by Lexus’ 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, which generates 354kW of power and 535Nm of torque.
It’s important to note that this is 3kW/5Nm more than the engine’s other uses, which include the aforementioned GS F, the mid-size RC F coupe, and the top-of-the-line LC 500 coupe and convertible pair.

A future IS sedan powered by a V8 was previously said to forgo the F badge in favor of the name “IS 500,” but the Japanese outlet’s rumor suggests this has changed.
Two flagship F models, the LS F sedan and LC F coupe, will sit above the revived IS F in terms of size and performance (imagined at top by X-Tomi Design).
Both versions will be driven by an entirely new 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that Best Car claims would produce 493kW and 650Nm, as has been widely rumored in recent months and years. This engine was first revealed to be in development in 2019.
That contrasts well with the flagships’ rivals, which include the Lexus sedan’s 450kW/900Nm outgoing Mercedes-AMG S63 and the coupe’s 460kW/750Nm BMW M8 Competition.
According to the article, the LC F’s increased power will be paired with an upgraded chassis that includes double-wishbone independent suspension, 21-inch wheels, and a cast aluminum “suspension upper mounting structure” (likely referring to a subframe).

Will the Lexus IS F make a comeback?
A BRAND NEW F SPORT The Lexus F SPORT Performance line makes its debut with the 2022 IS 500 F SPORT Performance, which is destined to catch everyone’s eye.
Has Lexus stopped producing IS F?
Since the Lexus IS-F, a fascinating alternative to the BMW M3, is no longer available, fast, exhilarating Lexi will become even more difficult to find. Autovisie reports that the IS-F has now been discontinued worldwide with only 11,000 units sold since the car’s launch in 2007. The vehicle has already been removed from UK showrooms since 2012, but this news confirms long-running rumors.
That automobile already has a successor in the form of the RC-F coupe, thus it appears doubtful that Lexus will design a direct replacement using the current generation “XE30” IS in light of those sales figures. The 5.0-litre V8 engine in that car is an upgraded version of the one in the previous super saloon.
What was the Lexus IS F’s successor?
The IS500, which is referred to as a F Sport Performance model this time around, seems to be the IS F’s spiritual successor. A naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V-8 with 472 horsepower is featured in the 2022 Lexus IS500. Instead of calling it a full F like its RC F coupe sibling, Lexus refers to it as a F Sport Performance model.
Is a V8 being added to the Lexus?
A surprise rumor claims that a V8 engine is being planned for inclusion in one of the Lexus IS standard models for 2021, despite the trend in previous years to reduce displacement. When the model receives a significant overhaul for the 2021 model year, this would in reality be an IS 500 variation that will enter the roster.
When the IS first came out, there was an IS F version that included a powerful V8 engine. Despite its undeniable merits, Lexus ignored that variation since it attracted little attention. Only the engine would be added to the catalog; not the F version itself.
In terms of what is anticipated for the IS in 2021, the model will undoubtedly receive cosmetic upgrades to align its look with that of the LS, the grand dame of the Lexus series; the inside will also be revamped. The last recent redesign was in 2014, thus a refresh wouldn’t be detrimental to the model moving ahead.
How many Lexus IS Fs exist worldwide?
From 2016 till the GS was discontinued in 2020, the GS F was produced. Just 2,484 vehicles were produced throughout the course of those four years, with 2016 producing the most vehicles at 1,418. When the Lexus IS F was first released in 2008, it was the company’s first serious effort to compete directly with the BMW M3 and Mercedes-Benz C Class AMG. Even though it didn’t surpass any of the Germans, it was a success overall.
Despite the advent of the new 2014 IS sedan, Lexus today revealed information about its IS F for 2014. It is nearly identical to the IS F from last year, right down to its last-generation IS base (though the price has increased).
The 2014 IS F, which has a 5.0-liter V-8 engine and is rated at 416 horsepower, does receive a few cosmetic upgrades, such as LED fog lamps, a carbon fiber rear spoiler, Alcantara trim on the doors and center console, black semi-aniline leather trim on the seats, and headrests with the “F” logo embossed on them.
However, this will be the final IS F to be constructed. It will be gone after this year’s run is through. Thankfully, a performance-oriented Lexus RC coupe will take its place and be unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.
The 2015 Lexus RC F has already been spotted; it appears to be a sleeker, more compact take on the luxury-performance coupe motif, which is a nice change from the substantial IS sedan foundation.
Another high-output V-8 engine, possibly even the same one as the present IS F’s, will be housed under the hood of the RC F, but it may receive modifications to increase emissions and fuel efficiency. It’s anticipated that power output would stay around 400 horsepower.
