Does 2020 Lexus Gx Have Apple Carplay

Last year, I complained about the infotainment system’s lack of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to help with some of the clumsiness while driving the GX through my home state of Tennessee. I’m pleased to let you know that the number of Lexus automobiles that are CarPlay compatible has increased significantly. Sadly, the joy was fleeting because the GX isn’t included on that list. Having said that, the Mark Levinson audio system in my GX test car sounded fantastic and radiated a deep, rich sound throughout the large SUV.

The interior of the 2022 Lexus GX 460 is quite contemporary thanks to the new 10.3″ touchscreen infotainment system. All of the standard connection and entertainment capabilities are also present.

This vehicle is not the smoothest of the bunch, despite the fact that the brand-new infotainment does make it more appealing than the prior models. It is less contemporary since the touch sensitivity may be greater and because the display is not edge-to-edge. However, the central console’s touchpad really improves the user experience a little.

The 2019 Lexus GX does not offer CarPlay.

In essence, the GX 460 is a Land Cruiser.

The J150 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is not offered for sale in America. It provides a similar, opulent feeling to the Toyota legend despite being less expensive and luxurious than the J200 we get.

The seating is cozy. The height of the ride is dominating. The cabin has lots of room. Extremely quiet. You get the desired build quality and off-road capability, and hey, it’s 600 pounds lighter, $30,000 or more cheaper, and (slightly) more fuel-efficient.

In other words, the GX 460 is the Land Cruiser that customers claim to want. As a result, Lexus sells roughly three times than many GX 460s as it does Land Cruiser/LX twins combined.

There is merit in owning a seasoned Lexus off-road vehicle, but perhaps not when you’re paying for a new one.

The GX460 exudes a ton of classic off-roader vigor. Heavy steering goes hand in hand with being heavy (if not quite Land Cruiser heavy). It leans forward under strong braking and backward when you slam on the pedal. It floats around a little in tight turns. The ride over the potholed pavement can be a little stiffer than you expect. Although it isn’t significantly more powerful, the V8 is smoother than the 4Runner’s V6.

Many people will appreciate the lovely throwback that is the GX. Just be careful while transitioning from a GX 460 to a contemporary truck. You might feel dizzy from the time trip.

The Lexus GX 460 is anticipated to be 5/5 reliable in 2022. Consumer Reports analyzed information from the 2019, 2020, and 2021 model years to make its prediction. Every one of those model years has an unblemished dependability record, which says a lot about how long the Lexus GX usually lasts.

The Toyota 4Runner, on the other hand, is anticipated to have a 4/5 reliability rating. This ranking by Consumer Reports is based on the Toyota 4Runner models from 2019 through 2021. The reliability rating for the 2019 and 2020 Toyota 4Runners is 4/5, while the 2021 4Runner has a perfect score of 5/5. Does the Lexus GX 460 have a HUD?

In 2021, the Lexus GX is truly out of date. The big, traditional 4×4 SUV has a dated transmission, poor fuel economy, and up until recently, an entertainment system that was straight out of the early 2000s. The GX’s main technical flawpossibly its worst flawwill be fixed for the 2022 model year, and Lexus will finally give it a genuinely contemporary infotainment system overhaul.

The 2022 GX’s center stack is almost entirely new, and atop it is a 10.3-inch infotainment screen that finally replaces Lexus’ incredibly out-of-date Enform system, which was previously housed in the control panel itself. The new display is completely compatible with existing Lexus vehicles’ configurations and comes pre-integrated with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa. The dashboard is mostly new, and the remaining controls have been modified to support the new system, yet, get this, it still includes a CD player!

The remainder of the 2022 modifications are not as significant as the new display. There is a Black Line special edition that is based on the Premium GX460 in addition to a new Nori Green color. 18-inch wheels painted black, a smoked grille surround, black front and rear bumper highlights, garnet red tail lamps, black roof rails, and body-colored door handles are just a few of the Black Line’s exterior features. The GX series also includes standard equipment including navigation, power folding heated mirrors, and intelligent parking aid.

The GX, which is now 12 years old, is still cozy on the road and incredibly strong when the going gets rough, whether it be rocky, muddy, sandy, or otherwise. It’s also one of the dwindling handful of SUVs and automobiles available for purchase that have a V-8 engine. It’s easy to say that we enjoy the GX’s retro charms, and these updates for 2022 make it an even more appealing SUV without losing its distinctive personality. Although it is unknown whether the new package would result in a price rise, we anticipate the starting price to be close to the GX’s current asking price of $54,950.

The Lexus GX 460 is a strangely endearing SUV that has some of the best off-road prowess in the industry. It is as luxurious as it is capable. On Thursday, Lexus unveiled a number of updates for the 2022 GX 460, and while they don’t fundamentally alter the SUV’s design as a whole, they do offer significant upgrades that will make the GX more comfortable to use on a daily basis.

The most significant improvement to the 2022 GX’s cabin technology. The previous GX didn’t support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and had an obsolete infotainment system that was clumsy and slow. A 10.3-inch touchscreen that runs the most recent multimedia technology from Lexus and has smartphone mirroring capabilities is now housed in a revamped dashboard. The 2022 GX has six USB ports spread around across the cabin to keep phones charged, speaking of which.

The 2022 GX adds navigation, parking assistance, and power-folding heated mirrors to the long list of driver aid features that are currently standard. The Lexus Safety System Plus suite, which includes lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and high-speed (read: not full-speed) adaptive cruise control, is standard on all 2022 model year Lexus vehicles, including the GX 460.

The final update for the 2022 model year is a new Black Line trim package, which is comparable to what Lexus offers on its other vehicles. Here, the Black Line kit includes new bumper valances, exclusive wheels, and black chrome trim. Customers can choose from a couple different exterior hues to go with this package, including the brand-new Nori Green Pearl shown above.

The other GX specifics are exactly the same as they have always been. With a 4.6-liter V8 engine that produces 301 horsepower and 329 pound-feet of torque, the GX has plenty of power to get you pretty far off the beaten track.

The 2022 GX is currently available for purchase, starting at $56,500 plus $1,075 for destination. Although the Black Line special edition isn’t currently mentioned on Lexus’ consumer website, we anticipate it to become available soon.
