The dealership’s owner, Jeremy Rochelle, was asked how all of these automobiles ended up here, and his response was actually pretty intriguing. In actuality, he and his two partners decided to start selling exotic automobiles out of legitimate dealerships only a few years ago, although his operations in exotic cars actually began roughly 15 years ago as an independent business.
In contrast to his partners, who selected brands like Nissan, Infiniti, Mitsubishi, and Volkswagen, Rochelle chose Kia for his business because he personally loves where the company is headed (and we’d be tempted to agree). Although the exotic car business was planned and in place when he purchased the dealership, the extent to which it has expanded was completely unforeseen, according to him. He attributed the success to a mix of wise acquisitions, a prime location, and the nature of the market at the time.
In order to reach a diverse spectrum of populations, Rochelle and his two partners are set up across New Jersey, Florida, and Ohio in various locations. Rochelle claims that because all sales are based on thorough research into market patterns, he would consider purchasing nearly anything as long as he believes he can get a return on his investment.
Rochelle has a specialized vehicle acquisition staff at the dealership to keep up with everything, and he and his partners are often trading cars and data to maximize their success. And it appears to be effective, since sales of these luxury vehicles account for between 14 and 20 percent of Kia of Riverdale’s monthly revenue. Additionally, that figure only takes into account vehicles that sell for $100,000 or more, indicating that it will likely be higher when you take into account vehicles like the AMG, M, and RS, which are priced below $100,000 but clearly don’t fall into the category of “normal by any stretch of the imagination.”

Who is Kia of Columbia’s owner?
One might be excused for not knowing that Columbia’s Kia of Columbia auto dealership changed ownership this fall to McLarty Automotive Group, which also controls all of the Joe Machens stores including Columbia Honda. However, the direction that this vehicle business is going is an even less well-known reality. To say that Matt McMahon, the new general manager of Kia of Columbia, is one of the best dreamers Columbia has to offer wouldn’t be an understatement.
It has been a long road to get here, says Matt. I started working in the auto industry in Wichita, Kansas, in 2009. I came across a man who asked if I wanted to try working harder to make a better livelihood while I was attending Wichita State University and working at Buckle, a popular clothes retailer in shopping malls. What? I asked. He responded, “Cars.” I commanded you to disregard it.
I started selling automobiles when I was 19 years old, and it was a great success, he claims. Matt sold automobiles with Joe Machens Nissan, Joe Machens Volkswagen, and Columbia Honda before accepting the general manager position with Kia of Columbia after finally transferring to MU and connecting with Machens.
“I received a call from the McLarty Automotive team [Machens’ ownership group] in the middle of October. Matt recollects them telling him, “Hey, we’re buying the Kia store and we’d like you to be the general manager to help us build that franchise.” “I felt flattered and honored. I made the decision to embark on this path and expand this franchise. Being here makes me happy. To get here, I’ve spent the last 11 years of my life.
