The choice between the Kia Sportage and the Kia Seltos comes down to personal preference. The Seltos more agile in traffic and has a greater ground clearance, although the Sportage is slightly bigger and has more horsepower. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine powers both of these new crossovers that are available for purchase and have five seats. It can accelerate you from 0 to 60 mph in under nine seconds. Although the Sportage is quicker than the Seltos, the Seltos has a higher estimated combined MPG per the EPA. Performance vs. fuel economy may be the deciding factor.

Parking is also incredibly simple. While the Kia Sportage has a larger interior, it is slightly more difficult to drive.
What is the main difference between the KIA Seltos vs. Sportage?
The primary distinction between these new Kia SUVs for sale, despite sharing many of the same features, options, and conveniences, is size. The Sportage offers more internal space and less maneuverability than the Kia Seltos because it is a size class larger. The Kia Seltos is for you if you appreciate convenience in parking and driving. See how your family fits in the 2019 Kia Sportage if you’re searching for an SUV with a little bit extra passenger volume. In comparison to its larger sibling, the Seltos has a greater combined EPA estimated fuel efficiency.
What other SUVs are comparable to the Kia Seltos?
Subcompact SUVs from 2022 from Kia and Chevrolet both provide fashionable exteriors and practical interior capacity for both passengers and freight.
Kia is Sportage bigger or smaller?
The Sorento has additional cargo room because to its larger size. The Sorento features 75.5 cubic feet of total cargo capacity behind the front seats compared to the Sportage’s 74.1 cubic feet. Kia provides a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder Sportage engine with 187 horsepower.
The Kia Seltos is big enough, right?
A full-size SUV cannot be categorized as the Kia Seltos because it is not large or powerful enough. Let’s take a step back and define what an SUV is.
A full-size SUV is one that can tow, navigate rough terrain, and accommodate several people. Let’s compare the Kia Seltos’ power to that of the Ford Expedition, a full-size SUV.
The Kia Seltos only has 175 horsepower, which is less than other SUVs in higher price ranges that have at least 200 to 400 horsepower or more. Just look at the top-tier Ford Expedition; its base engine produces 380 horsepower, which is far less than the Kia Seltos’s. As a result, the Kia Seltos is less nimble and unable to tow like other full-size SUVs.
The Kia Seltos has a little amount of cargo room behind the back seats, but not quite enough to qualify as a full-size SUV. The Kia Seltos has the same amount of seating space as any typical full-size sedan and up to a medium-sized SUV.
With all of this information in mind, the Kia Seltos is categorized as a subcompact crossover SUV, bringing the best of both worlds in terms of size and performance between a full-sized sedan and a compact SUV.
What’s wrong with Kia Seltos, exactly?
The 2021 Kia Seltos receives an average dependability rating from customers. There are 24 complaints about the Kia Seltos’ engines, 13 about early transmission failure, and one about inadequately heat-treated oil piston rings that might result in engine stall, fire, and damage.
Does the Kia Seltos Have Transmission Problems?
Numerous owners claim that the transmission in their Kia Seltos broke down at or below 6,500 miles. Transmission shake, loss of acceleration or power at 70 mph, engine shut-off, and the inability to reverse are among the NHTSA complaints. According to one owner, the timing chain on the CVT broke after 8,800 miles, causing metal shavings to appear in the engine oil.
What vehicle’s size is equivalent to the Kia Seltos?
The interiors of each vehicle are a fascinating additional comparison point between the Seltos and Sportage. Both vehicles boast cozy interiors and a plethora of premium amenities. The 2023 Kia Sportage has an eight-inch touch screen, Android AutoTM, and Apple CarPlay, as well as a stylish design that seamlessly integrates the elegant controls of the center console into the overall appearance of the vehicle. Are Seltos worth purchasing?
Purchasing a Seltos is a wise decision. It provides many first-in-segment features, a wide range of engine and transmission choices, plush interiors, all at very affordable prices. We were so thrilled with the Seltos that our only complaints were the absence of under-thigh support and the ride’s stiffness. The Kia Seltos is a terrific option if you want a family vehicle that is comfortable, has excellent ride quality, a long list of useful features, is reasonably priced, and has improved fuel economy. It has three available engines: a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 115 horsepower and 144 pound-feet of torque, a 1.4-liter gasoline turbocharged engine with 140 horsepower and 242 pound-feet of torque, and a 1.5-liter diesel engine with 115 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque All three engines come standard with a 6-speed manual transmission. Are the Kia Selto’s seats cozy?
The Seltos is a compact crossover that effectively utilizes its available space. The front seats are pleasantly comfortable, cushioned, and surprisingly deep. Even though there is a little less cushioning than most people would anticipate, the buckets are nonetheless cozy for lengthy journeys. For shorter drivers and front passengers, the spacious interior is beneficial because all the controls and buttons are easily accessible. The driver’s seat is power-adjustable and provides a respectable amount of options for driving position at the SX trim level. Although there is adequate room for most individuals to fit in the passenger seat, it only has manual adjustments and cannot be changed with the same degree of freedom as the driver’s seat.
The Seltos’ size is most apparent in the back seat, where passengers in the back and those in the front are always vying for space. There isn’t much room left in the back for someone higher than about five feet after a six-foot guy rides in front. When vehicle seats are involved, this becomes more of a problem. The front passengers’ knees will almost certainly be pressed on the dash or steering column in the Seltos since a safe installation rule states that the car seat should not touch the rear of the front seat.
Not Recommended For Tall People
While I agree that the automobile has a nice exterior, the inside fell short of my expectations. While Kia has packed the top model with goodies, the midrange variants don’t have the same attraction. I chose the HTK+ model, but I wasn’t happy with it. I am 6 feet tall, and there was scarcely any support for my thighs. Skoda cars have offered me better support in the past. The material appeared standard, and the 8-inch infotainment system was typical. The car’s engine performs well. However, I haven’t checked the mileage. I expected a better level of support for my 6-foot-tall body from an SUV. For those who are shorter, it might be beneficial. If you are tall and have long legs, I would not suggest it. Similar to any other car, it is.
