Thankfully, I was able to remove it from the highway. After waiting for a tow truck for two hours, I decided to try to drive it to the dealership; I was successful in doing so. I waited for an answer on it for around 5 hours before learning that they believe the transmission is to blame. I went home that evening anticipating a call from the dealership the following morning informing me of the situation. I had to phone on the third day to inquire, much to my astonishment. We had to order a part for the transmission, and it is now on back order, was the statement I received. When I inquired about the expected return date for my automobile, I was informed that they were unsure. This must change.
