Can you briefly tell us about your background and how you arrived at your current position, Kia?
I was born in the Falkland Islands, which are located in the Atlantic Ocean southeast of Argentina. I was raised on a farm with 110,000 acres, 36,000 sheep, 150 horses, and numerous cattle. The village where I lived featured a community center, a tiny school, a group home for singles, and eight main houses. The people who worked on the farm were a tiny, close-knit group. The manager was my father. I was taught at a young age that communities are strong.
From the age of 711, I attended boarding school in Argentina. I spent the three months I spent at home each year training horses, sheepdogs, and taking care of the farm. I went to boarding school at Port Stanley, Falkland Islands, when I was 12 years old. I saw tracer bullets whizzing over my boarding school’s window less than a year later, in the spring of 1982, as I woke up. The little British platoon that had been stationed there was being taken over by the Argentinians, who had invaded the area.
I witnessed personally the carnage of battle, the destruction of airplanes, and the brave as well as horrific actions that men on both sides took. Being in this conflict helped to mold me into the person I am now. When I was 15, I came to England to finish my studies, and when I was 18, I began modeling in Milan and London. Two significant factors in my life began to manifest themselves in London. I developed into a war protester and discovered yoga.
Due to my activism, I was inspired to create two documentaries, one about a pilgrimage against nuclear power in Great Britain and the other about Native American land rights in North Dakota. A turning point occurred when I realized that many activists were driven by unresolved personal issues, which made them less successful in their mission.
I came to the conclusion that for me to truly inspire change, it had to start from inside. After you’ve healed yourself, help others. Set an example rather than just indicating the way forward. This related to my yoga practice, where I was engaging in profound healing and connecting with my inner self.
In 2003 at Yogaworks and again in 2005 at Yoga West, I completed yoga teacher trainings in Los Angeles, and I haven’t looked back since. I have kept studying and passing forward what I have learned. The yoga tradition addresses all part of life, including how to live, how to die, heal from trauma, get rid of limiting beliefs, awaken energy, vitality, and inspire creativity and connection. It never gets old to me.
What started out as a physical routine to keep me in shape quickly evolved into a haven where I could explore my inner potential and help others do the same. Teaching yoga has never felt like work because I get to share something I am passionate about. Giving more results in having more to share and more possibilities coming my way.
My lifelong goals have been to travel, guide others through life-changing experiences, train instructors, and create conscious communities. Today I work on this. In order to guide someone from being stuck on any level to expansion, healing, and personal power, I developed a style of yoga I call Radiant Body Yoga.
The physical postures (asana) that keep the body lean, toned, and flexible are the main components of the Radiant Body Yoga practice. certain movements (kriyas) that release trapped energy and change the practitioner’s frequency. breathing exercises to increase one’s vitality and energy. Techniques for meditation that assist the mind become calm and focused, as well as lifestyle advice for maintaining a positive attitude and attracting opportunity.
I now have a vibrant network of Radiant Body Yoga instructors and students.
Has it been generally smooth overall? If not, what obstacles did you encounter along the way? My biggest problems have more often been internal than external. Learning to trust my own judgment and the flow of events.
It took time for the ideas to develop and take shape, but I had known for three years that I wanted to design my own teacher preparation program. Additionally, I was aware that I wanted to market in a particular way that was consistent with what I was teaching and was not based on fear. This required me to defy numerous “experts” who were advising me, but doing so has repeatedly paid off, and even when it hasn’t, I have always learnt something important.
Yoga teaches us that obstacles present the best chances for development and evolution, and in reality, its practices are designed to teach us how to overcome obstacles more successfully. I’ve discovered that the journey is rather straightforward if I listen to my inner direction. Trying to “push” things along usually leads to conflict! I maintain my channels via regular practice so that I can follow my inner guidance.
One of the blessings has been realizing that life is working FOR me rather than AGAINST me. My own practice, community, and teachers have been my biggest allies during the challenging times.

What do we need to know? What are you two best at? What distinguishes you from the competition?
The goal of Radiant Body Yoga (RBY), a lifestyle company, is to introduce those who are interested in self-exploration, personal development, the development of presence, and an ongoing commitment to uncover and experience a deeper truth to the ancient yogic philosophy and practices.
We provide 200- and 300-hour yoga teacher training programs, all-inclusive retreat adventures, lectures on yoga and healthy living, food cleanse journeys, and mentorship for yoga teachers.
I have a reputation for teaching Kundalini Yoga in an approachable manner. I combine Kundalini Yoga with contemporary vinyasa flow as a warm-up to create a fantastic overall experience. I provide instruction at gatherings, events, retreat facilities, and yoga studios all around the world.
When someone experiences a sense of enhanced consciousness brought on by a kriya (particular sequence of postures, breath, and music), breath technique, or meditation, I adore watching the lights go on in their eyes. I enjoy disseminating resources that can genuinely change someone’s life.
I love the sense of community that has developed around RBY. We have teachers in a variety of nations and practitioners everywhere. The next thing I’m going to do is educate teachers to run RBY trainings in their own nations so we can share the love even more!
Every year, I return to India to lead groups and spend time with my own instructors while also continuing to learn and develop my own practice. This provides me an advantage because there is always more to learn, room for improvement, and room to grow as a person and teacher.
The gift of life. Our inner potential and that gift are both made available to us through yoga. The depths of consciousness and awareness that are conceivable never cease to amaze me.
To me, living in a state of flow is success. That flow results from keeping my relationships with others and myself in balance.
I am disoriented when:
-I am exerting pressure on or making an effort to persuade outside forces to behave a certain way.
