This is the area designated for entering the third row. Obviously, you can’t really climb through the captain’s chairs with the Captain Kirk chair. That suggests that there are both Captain Kirk’s chair and other captain’s chairs. That’s confusing, I suppose. Captain Kirk’s chair Perhaps, but only if you pronounce “Admiral” like Ricardo Montalbn does.
The room itself isn’t that fantastic, though. The door protrudes greatly as well. The outboard captain’s chair was moved all the way back, and my wife complained that it was difficult to get around the door and secure our son in his rear-facing car seat.
By the way, the outboard captain’s seats only recline as far as this. Both the Super-Long Slide seats in the Sienna and the VIP Lounge seats extend substantially longer. This is comparable to the Honda Odyssey in many ways.
Although third-row comfort appears to be comparable to that of other minivans, a closer back-to-back sit may reveal discrepancies. It has larger rear quarter windows than the Sienna’s and, in my opinion, appears more comfortable. It also has a less cavernous outlook.
I like that I can use these settings to move the front passenger seat forward. They were useful for making sure the rear-facing car seat had enough room.
The touchscreens for the front seats were mounted on this trim level, the SX (no Prestige). The Sounds of Nature feature, which can be found in many Kia, Hyundai, and Genesis vehicles, is one of its features. If your child is willing to wear headphones, you might use this as a white noise machine for naps without subjecting the rest of the passengers to the sound of rain.
The drawback of the screens is that they slightly limit how far the second row can slide in order to access the third row. Even worse, it considerably shrinks the gap between the front seat and a kid safety seat that faces backwards. The front passenger seat has to be moved further forward than it would be if those screens weren’t present.
I like this configuration a lot overall. Although I continue to believe that my family would benefit more from the Sienna’s Super-Long seat travel, I particularly like the Captain Kirk’s versatilityespecially when contrasted to the eight-passenger Sienna, which does not Super-Long slide. Actually, aside from the Sienna’s revolutionary fuel efficiency, all the distinct second-row designs are what set the four rival minivans apart from one another. Each has a unique offering, but none are inherently better than the others. They only meet various demands and tastes.
Kia Carnival has 11 seats, right?
Since we don’t know if or when the Kia Carnival 11-seater will hit the market in the United States, you could have to wait a bit before you can get your hands on one. The 2022 Kia Carnival, on the other hand, has three rows, eight seats, and plenty of room for your large crew.
