Depending on your particular demands, both the G35 and the 350Z can check a lot of boxes.

The G35 has a more comfortable, smoother ride, a 2+2 seat configuration, a prospective four-door model, and trunk capacity.
The 350Z, on the other hand, has the standard planted feeling you’d get from a two-seater sports car layout with few frills, no back seats, and little trunk room.
If these details don’t make the 350Z seem particularly appealing to you, the G35 is probably a better option.
Nissan built the 350Z with fun, energetic driving in mind, and it unquestionably succeeded in that purpose, but the G35 is the practical choice for daily driving, especially for long distances.
The 350Z is probably the greatest option if you’re a youthful, single person without a care in the world who doesn’t have any immediate intentions to transport guests in the backseat.
However, the G35 can still compete in the twisties, and the aftermarket tuning possibilities offer a great chance to create a surprise vehicle (turbo kit with a stock body, anyone?).
Most of the distinctions are meaningless if you get one at a great price and want to adapt it for drifting.
For instance, your G35 cabin will still look and sound like a race vehicle if you decide to strip it down to reduce weight.

Does the 350Z and G35 share a chassis?
We frequently receive letters asking us to cross-reference our bracing with other chassis types, but sometimes we just are unsure.
The largest issue is convincing the test vehicles to perform this task, which we have been waiting to do for a while. We were fortunate that NorCal Chassis Works, in Fairfield, California, asked several of their clients if they would be willing to test-fit our bracing.
Edger G., a former NCCW client, has been trying to find ways to enhance the chassis of his 2007 Infiniti G35 Coupe.
We were aware that the G35 Sedan was the focal point of our G35 units. We also knew that the 350Z and the G35 shared a lot of parts, but how much of it did they share?
The front subframe tie was our first item on the agenda. The tie brace fastens to the lower control arm subframe bolts and prevents lateral movement of the subframe. The chassis subframe brace, which connects the Compression arms to the unibody’s frame, is also seen.
There won’t be a clearance issue because our subframe tie brace (Part Number LA2-1256) lies just above the main subframe.
The primary query we receive the most frequently is the next item on the agenda. if the G35 can use the Z33 350Z subframe chassis brace. We removed the original G35 brace and contrasted it with our own chassis brace (Part Number LA8-1257). It is the same brace, is the million dollar reply. The Infiniti G35 and the Z33 Nissan 350Z have the same unibody design. everything from the subframes to the suspension parts to the steering rack
As you move to the back of the car, you’ll notice that the 350Z and G35 both have a rear subframe brace. We gambled and tested this stuff (Part Number RL4-1259). We also used the 350Z’s Ultra Racing brace.
The problem was there since our test vehicle had undergone so much damage from riding low for so long. We had to modify our chassis bracing mounting plate region to create the holes on the test car because the chassis already had dents and bent mounting points. Actually, it wasn’t that horrible.
A 350z or G35, which is quicker?
The latter models of Infiniti had an engine that produced 306 hp, while the early models had 260 to 280 hp. Minor upgrades throughout the years led to the boost in power, which surprised many G35 enthusiasts who believed the vehicle could only generate 300 horsepower.
The 350z’s engine produced 287 horsepower when it first debuted, and 306 horsepower after a later modification. Therefore, over time, the 350z offered more power than the G35. Only at the end of production did the Nissan 350z lose its advantage against the G35.
The automatic and manual transmissions in both cars were identical, albeit the automatics had variable timing on the intake side. The exhaust and intake sides of the manual transmissions, however, possessed variable valve timing (VVT).
When compared to earlier models, the 2008 vehicles both have 3.5-liter V6 engines that produced 306 horsepower and 268 ft-lb of torque. Both vehicles, unsurprisingly, had rear-wheel drive.

Despite the G35’s 8 longer frame, every component—from the suspension to the powertrain—can be changed. Although this may increase weight, it is obvious that weight wasn’t a top priority on their list of worries when 8-way motorized leather heated seats were included as standard equipment from the factory.
The G35’s extended wheelbase has advantages and disadvantages in terms of drifting. It permits exceptionally stable drifting and steady control, but it also slows rotation and avoids the sharp transitions that shorter-wheelbase cars frequently exhibit.
We do, of course, recommend that you check at the manual transmission varieties, and one from the later production years with lower kilometers is probably your best chance. Sure, it’s large and somewhat hefty, but the 3.5L V6 powerplant has more than enough power for grassroots level drifting.
What’s to stop you from removing the interior, installing some lightweight bucket seats, installing some coilovers, and eliminating some of the opulent trimmings before launching it sideways at the track?
When completely naked, you can lose about 150 pounds. The G will nevertheless weigh about 150 pounds more than the 350z as a result, primarily because of the G’s 8 larger wheelbase.
If a G35 comes up for sale with high mileage but is still a good deal, then give it a try if it appears to be in good condition. In many cases, a higher-mileage, well-kept example is a better purchase than a low-mileage, bounced-off-the-limiter counterpart.
Nissan never offered the HR in the coupe, so if you want to go with the more highly acclaimed VQ35HR engine, you’ll need to seek for a 2007 or newer model sedan. Only later 350z and sedan models were given this option.
Infiniti Q606.9/10
The Q60 GT has lovely looks and excellent handling, but the driving experience is let down by a numbness and alienation from what is occurring beneath you. Although the GT’s refinement isn’t as high as that of its BMW and Benz competitors, it is still a superb bargain and an excellent complement for the RC 200t. I’d jump to the top and choose the Red Sport if you have your heart set on an Infiniti Q60.
