Subaru is my second pick because, aside from clichés about love, pets, hiking, and nature, its whole brand identity is based on concepts that have reached their conceptual nadir. Subaru doesn’t seem to benefit much from opposed cylinder engines, and all-wheel drive is now standard. As long as there is adequate brand loyalty, I don’t see Subaru going out of business but rather getting swallowed up by Toyota’s Gravemind and producing only badge-engineered goods. According to the BRZ and Solterra, this process may already be well under way.
