Hello everybody I recently purchased a 2009 G37x sedan that had been restored after the previous owner struck a deer. They installed non-AFS headlights to reduce the cost of the restoration. I am aware of this and don’t care for the feature, however my dash has an extremely obnoxious light that continuously serves as a reminder that the AFS is broken.
Can somebody tell me how to turn off this light? Can I remove the light itself or can I unhook a fuse or cable instead? I have no idea how the wiring survived the repair, so I won’t start digging until I have a target in mind.

Hey guys, I recently installed Philips 6000K bulbs in my 09FX50 for a brighter white appearance.
The “AFS” light in the instrument cluster turned on after you drove with them on, right? What possibly was that? Although I am aware that it refers to adaptive headlights, I am at a loss as to why they would turn on after I installed the bulbs. Should I bring it to the dealer, or will they claim that this will void something? Any info would be helpful, LMK. Thanks

This problem occurred with my 2007 G35. I kept that light on for a week, fearing a pricey repair was imminent. Then I realized I had unintentionally turned the AFS off by pressing the “off” switch. A switch is located quite near the trunk lid release in my automobile. See if there is an AFS on/off switch there. It might be that easy.

How can you deactivate AFS?
When you turn the steering wheel to the right at a halt, the right headlight turns to the right. However, when you turn the steering wheel to the left, the left headlight does not turn to the left. By doing this, the left headlight is kept from illuminating oncoming vehicles. When the shift lever is in the R position, AFS is disabled.
How can the AFS light be turned off in a Honda CRV?
Have your dealer check out the AFS. This switch is located next to the right vent. To activate or deactivate the AFS, press it. When you turn on the headlights when AFS is off, the AFS indicator turns on as a reminder.
How should I interpret the AFS off light?
The term “adaptive front-lighting system” (AFS) refers to headlights that turn in the direction a car is turning, illuminating more of the road in that direction rather than straight ahead.
Many automakers, including Honda, Mazda, Toyota, and others, refer to adaptive front illumination. They are also known as adaptive headlights or curve-adaptive lights, and other manufacturers have their own brand names for them, like the Genesis Adaptive Cornering System and the Porsche Dynamic Light System.
Halogen, high-intensity discharge, or light-emitting diode bulbs can be used in adaptive headlights. Depending on the steering wheel angle or, in some cars, on sensors that keep an eye on the road ahead, an electric motor turns the lights. Some systems use vehicle speed sensors to determine how far to pivot the lights and how high to adjust the pattern of lights.
Although AFS systems differ in specifics, they typically allow for a 15-degree swivel of the low-beam headlights. The right headlamp pivots less than the left on some setups. Additionally, in some systems, only the headlight facing the turn direction may swivel in a low-speed, 90-degree turn, but on a curving road, both headlights would typically pivot simultaneously.
Automatic high beams that automatically transition to low beams when they sense oncoming traffic in either direction are a feature of some adaptive headlight systems.
How is Lexus AFS fixed?
As installed in the Lexus RX 450h, Lexus’ Intelligent Adaptive Front Lighting System is a driver assistance that modifies the direction of the headlights in reaction to steering inputs and vehicle speed, effectively pointing the low-beam headlights towards the corner and improving your view.
The system is set to be activated by default, but if you’d like to temporarily turn it off, follow the instructions in the tutorial video below or continue reading for a step-by-step ‘how to’.
- Press the “MENU” button on the Lexus RX’s steering wheel, then use the arrow buttons to cycle through the options until “AFS” appears on the dash display.
- By pressing the “ENTER” button on the steering wheel, the system is turned off and the dash display indicator changes to “AFS OFF.”
- To return to the main display, click the “MENU” button one more time.
- Repeat the process to change the display from “AFS OFF” to “AFS ON” to re-activate the system. Resuming operation is the Intelligent Adaptive Front-Lighting System.
Infiniti adaptive headlights: what are they?
To improve visibility, AFS automatically switches on the low lights based on the steering and speed of the vehicle. Curve AFS will adjust the lighting scheme to account for the road’s curvature when you’re driving on it to improve nighttime visibility.
Are the Infiniti Q50’s headlights adaptive?
The Q50’s exterior style includes the double-arch front grille, dynamic arch profile, and crescent-shaped C-pillar that are exclusive to Infiniti vehicles. Active adaptive LED headlamps and other illumination are featured (headlights, fog lights, and marker lights)
An AFS module is what?
Based on the vehicle height signal, the AFS control module determines the target optical axis and outputs the result to the headlamp leveling actuator.
AFS: What is it?
The accounting term available-for-sale (AFS) is used to identify and group financial assets. It is a debt or equity security that isn’t categorized as a security that is held for trading or held until maturity, the two major categories of financial assets. AFS securities are not strategically important and frequently have a ready market price.
Contrary to trading investments, an AFS security’s gains and losses appear in the other comprehensive income (OCI) classification up until the security is sold rather than in net income. The income statement shows net income. Therefore, the income statement does not include unrealized gains and losses on AFS securities.
Retained earnings are accumulated over a number of accounting periods and are shown on the balance sheet. OCI, on the other hand, is rolled into “accumulated other comprehensive income” on the balance sheet at the end of the accounting period and consists of unrealized gains and losses from AFS securities. In the equity portion of the balance sheet, accumulated other comprehensive income is shown immediately below retained earnings.
What does AFS in a car mean?
The ideal headlamp setting for the road ahead is guaranteed by adaptive front lighting (AFS). It automatically modifies the beam’s angle to account for the weight of the load and stop your lights from blinding vehicles in approaching traffic.
How was AFS founded?
In order to manage reunions of former American Field Service personnel and to oversee the AFS Fellowships for French Universities program, which had been established in December 1919, the AFS Association was founded in May 1920.
Lexus Adaptive Front Lighting System: What Is It?
Each headlamp’s individual LEDs are intelligently enabled and disabled by adaptive high-beam for precise control over light distribution. The system makes use of a camera mounted on top of the car to precisely avoid approaching or preceding vehicles while detecting light from vehicles in front and smoothly illuminating the road ahead.
With great vision and calmer driving conditions, this enables drivers to experience their most brightly lit nighttime drive without having to constantly switch between high and low beam.
What is control of adaptive lighting?
To increase the safety of nighttime transportation, a new lighting concept called Adaptive Light Control (ALC) is being developed. By continuously adapting the headlamps to the current driving situation and environment, ALC enhances the headlamp lighting. The transition from offline to online (real-time) simulation of light distributions in the driving simulator has been completed successfully in order to ensure rapid prototyping and early testing. The interactive creation of novel light distributions in various driving scenarios and environments was made possible by this real-time simulation. To enable additional testing under real-world driving situations, the solutions are immediately ported to actual vehicles.
Results of the development of moveable headlights are reported in this study. Path prediction based on vehicle dynamics and navigation system route vectors is used to regulate these headlights. An introduction of the fundamental idea behind the Adaptive Light Control system is provided, along with an illustration of the differences between static and dynamic light distributions.
What does the Lexus VSC light mean?
Your traction control system is malfunctioning when you see the Check VSC System Warning or VSC light, and both your VSC and ABS systems will become momentarily inoperable. If you unintentionally pressed the VSC button, it can also show up.
The traction control system used by Toyota and Lexus is known as VSC, or vehicle stability control. By lowering the engine power delivered to the wheels and, occasionally, even applying brake force via the ABS system, traction control aids in keeping your automobile in its grip.
Together with other control modules, VSC operates with ABS. The traction control is entirely deactivated if you notice the “VSC OFF” warning light on your dashboard, and it will not engage if you start to lose control. A “Check VSC system Light” message in place of the standard VSC light may appear on your dashboard if your Toyota or Lexus is more recent.
Where are the vehicle’s automatic headlight sensors located?
You can determine whether you have a light sensor in a few different methods. The simplest is having your lights switch on or off based on how bright it is outside. You most likely have a light sensor put on your car if they do have the capability. The windshield sensor can typically be located either by:
- adjacent to the rain sensor on the windshield
- Rearview mirror behind
- towards the edge of the windshield, on the dash
Adaptive headlight: What does that mean?
Adaptive headlights typically have bulbs that rotate in the direction of the vehicle’s movement or speed, expanding the driver’s field of vision by pivoting up to 15 degrees as the steering wheel is turned or embedded sensors detect a change in the environment. However, the technology is complicated and may vary between auto manufacturers.
What automobiles feature headlights that can curve?
- 2 Door MINI Hardtop.
- Jetta from Volkswagen.
- Toyota Mazda3.
- The Mazda6.
- Elantra by Hyundai.
- Q50 Infiniti.
- Outback Subaru.
- CC Volkswagen
How can I tell whether my automobile has headlights that can adjust?
Going on a nighttime drive could reveal whether your automobile has adaptive headlights. Your headlights are probably adaptive if you notice that they change their angle or brightness on their own. Some manufacturers mark their adaptive headlamp system with text or an icon inside the lens. When the headlights are off, take a peek around to see what’s there. If your car was made before the early 2010s, its headlights are probably not adaptive because adaptive headlights have only recently started to become more prevalent.
How much do adaptable headlights cost to replace?
They probably won’t be inexpensive either. ADB-compatible headlights on the vehicles AAA examined in 2019 ranged in price from $3,400 to $6,600 more than standard headlights. Some automakers, like Audi, informed us that the hardware for ADB has already been placed in vehicles they have been sold in the United States; it just needs to be turned on.
