My key remote (fobbuttons )’s haven’t been functional for about a month now. Sadly, the trunk’s locks do not function. The door handle sensor or mechanical key is the only means to open the car.
I replaced the batteries since I thought they were the problem, but the problem persisted.
The push-button starts the car absolutely well, however occasionally it will read “wrong key ID,” but it will disappear three seconds later and the car will start.

If the INFINITI Intelligent Key is not functioning due to low battery, how can I start the car?
Like any other remote, an intelligent key fob has a small battery within. Replace the battery if you discover that it won’t start unless you’re no more than two feet from your car.
However, depending on the car, even if the Intelligent Key battery is nearly dead, it is still possible to start the engine in one of two ways.
1. Start the engine by inserting the Intelligent Key fob into the key port on the bottom left dash panel for the Q60 Convertible, Q60 Coupe, QX50, and QX70.
2. Use the Intelligent Key fob to tap the ignition (Start/Stop) button on the Q50, Q70, QX60, and QX80. There will be a chime. To start the engine, press the ignition button and depress the brake pedal simultaneously.
Why won’t my keyless entry on my INFINITI Q50 work?
The battery should be checked first if Your INFINITIQ50’s keyless entry isn’t functioning. The fob uses a tiny, inexpensive, circular battery that is simple to swap out. The fob probably needs to be programmed if you recently changed the battery and now the keyless entry isn’t working. The steps to do this are available online or in your owner’s handbook. If the fob has been reprogRammed and the problem isn’t with the battery, it could just be inside damaged. Either the transmitter or the receiver could be broken, or the wiring could be loose. The keyless entry fob itself might not be the problem, though. The antenna or module for the keyless entry system may have failed, or the fuse for the control circuit may have blown.
Dead batteries or misplaced buttons are the two most common causes of the 2019 INFINITI Q50 keyless entry not working.
In general, you have three choices:
- the car to the dealer by towing it.
- Get a key cut and programmed for you by a dealer or locksmith after placing an online order (if necessary).
A word of caution: Your Infiniti Q50’s year and model will determine the sort of key you require. As a result, your options for having a new key created and programmed depend on whether you require a transponder, push-to-start button, clever fob, remote control, or a normal key.

how to use a dead intelligent key to start an INFINITI vehicle
Since technology entered the auto business, vehicles have incorporated a number of contemporary characteristics, and more are being created every day. This modernisation wave is accompanied by a completely new set of issues. Thankfully, automakers have considered this and have backup plans ready in case something goes wrong.
Your new INFINITI won’t be able to detect a dead Intelligent Key, which will prevent you from starting the vehicle. Fortunately, you can still start your car using one of two techniques even if your key fob is dead.
Without a key, you can effortlessly unlock your car door and start the engine with INFINITI’s proprietary Intelligent Key. You can start your automobile with a single push of a button while carrying the key fob someplace on your person. But because of this, the key fob needs batteries to function, and batteries, sadly, don’t last forever. Therefore, unlocking the key fob and changing the button cell battery is the quickest and easiest approach to fix your Intelligent Key. After that, starting your car will be simple.
There are two additional ways to start your INFINITI automobile with a dead key if you don’t have or are unable to obtain an INFINITI replacement battery. The first approach uses a way akin to utilizing a real key. The lower left dash panel of some INFINITI cars, including the Q60 Convertible and Coupe, the QX50, and the QX70, has a key port. The key fob can be inserted into that port, and you can then turn the key to start the engine.
The engine starts in a different way in the Q50, QX60, and QX80 INFINITI cars. You can use the INFINITI Intelligent Key to start the car by pressing it against the ignition button. A chiming sound will then be heard. You have around ten seconds to hit the start button while maintaining pressure on the brake pedal after the sound. It can take a few tries to get it properly, but once you do, the ignition should start.

There is, however, a way to reduce the cost and make the process more accessible. You can find instructions on how to do that in the sections below. It shouldn’t need much of your time and can help you save a ton of cash.

Can an old key fob be programmed to operate a different vehicle?
I was wondering whether it was feasible to reset or overwrite that key fob to my vehicle because I have a used remote control with the same button configurations (including remote start). I presently only have one remote that is set up for the automobile.
I’m here. As long as the key is the same for each vehicle, you can reprogram a key fob to work with that vehicle. In this situation, if the key can open the doors, you would need to take the following actions:
- The key fob’s battery should be removed and then replaced (unless you put in a new battery)
- After unplugging the vehicle’s battery wires, wait 30 seconds, then reconnect them (reset computer).
- Turn the key to the aONa position after inserting it in the ignition.
- The key should be in the aOFFa position.
- Using both your hand and the remote control, lock the door after turning the key to the aONa position.
- While simultaneously using the remote and your hand to unlock the door, turn the key to the aONa position.
- Remove the ignition switch’s key.
- the driver door with the key.
- Push the lock and unlock buttons on the key fob simultaneously with locking and unlocking the door with the key – (do this 3 times).
- Try using the remote to unlock the doors while the door is closed after taking the key out of the lock.
- Put the key in the ignition switch and attempt to start the engine if the doors will lock.
After completing these procedures, the key fob has been successfully reprogrammed to your car if the engine starts. If the key does not lock the doors or start the engine, it may be completely different, and you will need to get a new key.
