How To Connect Bluetooth To 2008 Infiniti Fx35?

Since I couldn’t find the answer to my issue after searching the boards, I’ll put it out there now.

I own a 2008 FX35 with factory-installed iPod adapter and inactive satellite radio (which works perfectly with an iPod).

Instead of having an iPhone, I have a Samsung S3. My phone connects to and functions flawlessly with a Bluetooth converter for iPod devices that I purchased on my Bose sound dock. All of the music on my phone can be played over my sound dock using Bluetooth.

I originally purchased the converter in order to use my FX35 stereo to play Bluetooth audio from my phone. The adaptor connected when I connected it to the iPod attachment in my car. Although my phone says it is connected to the Bluetooth adaptor, the radio in my car is silent. The stock stereo simulates an iPod connection but neither plays music nor broadcasts it.

I’m curious if anyone has had experience pairing a non-iOS device with the FX35’s stock stereo using bluetooth.

Here is a picture of the adaptor connected to the cable with the display in the distance.

Without aux, how can I Bluetooth my car?

You’ll fare better with an FM transmitter if your car or radio lacks an auxiliary input. In essence, the modern FM transmitter is a Bluetooth receiver that distributes audio over a free FM radio frequency as opposed to delivering it to the stereo via an auxiliary connection. You can hear your audio by setting the FM tuner on your stereo to the proper frequency.

Static, a weak signal, and generally poor audio quality plagued earlier models of FM transmitters, but reports of more current models are more encouraging.

The absence of cables is another benefit of the FM transmitter. There are no cables left hanging because the Bluetooth signal is relayed over FM frequencies. Instead, FM transmitters usually have a 12V outlet and occasionally have USB charging connectors incorporated into them.
