It’s good when a corporation attempts something new, like Hyundai’s new N-Line, that’s a letter we haven’t seen before, in a world full of RS this and Turbo that, and the assortment of varied letters that follow automobiles. With the IPL, or Infiniti Performance Line, vehicles, Infiniti also attempted it for a period. Given that both of these vehicles weren’t selling all that well to begin with, it was an intriguing decision to make the IPL package available on both the G37 Coupe and Convertible.
So what was included in the IPL package? First, a VQ37VHR model producing 348 horsepower and 276 lb-ft of torque. Nissan’s VVEL (Variable Valve Timing) system is used in this engine, raising the redline to 7400 RPM. There was also a minor body package, modified exhaust with bigger tips, stronger suspension, and 19-inch wheels. For $9,000 more than the coupe and convertible G37 Sport versions, all of this is included. The coupe started at $51,200, and the convertible at $61,450.
I’d say that’s worth it, but spending almost $60,000 on an Infiniti might not be the best decision. Sure, the VQ engine family is practically indestructible, but for the same amount of money, you could have purchased a C63 AMG with a fire-breathing, earth-shattering 6.2L V8. For the same money, a 6.2L V8 Cadillac CTS-V with 556 horsepower was also an option. So, in terms of horsepower, was the IPL a realistic option? No.
maybe based on performance? The coupe has a zero to sixty time of five seconds flat, which is not bad. The sprint was completed in 4.3 seconds by the C63 AMG and 3.9 seconds by the Cadillac. For the same price, it was therefore far slower than its rivals.
However, it would have been wonderful to see the IPL emblem remain because, in my opinion, they had something going there. The IPL is only no longer in existence in name thanks to Infiniti’s Red Sport portfolio.
Personally, I believe the convertible is stunning, especially in this white and red color scheme. The cherry on top is that they are asking a fair price. Of course, reasonable means between $20,000 and $25,000, but hey, it’s special. Because there aren’t many of these on the road, you’ll stand out much more than if you go with a normal German hardtop. Though a Cadillac XLR is also available for $20,000, so make a sensible decision.

How did the Infiniti G37 fare?
The tiny executive automobile line known as the Infiniti G-series was created by Nissan’s premium arm, Infiniti, for the 1991-1996 and 1999-2016 model years. The Nissan Primera served as the basis for the Infiniti G’s first two models, the P10 and P11. The Infiniti G has been rebadged variants of the Nissan Skyline series of sedans and coupes that were exported to the United States and Canada since its third generation (V35). The fourth generation (V36), which included the hardtop coupe convertible, is the current model. The Nissan 370Z is also supported by the Nissan FM platform, which also serves as the foundation for the third and fourth generations (V35 and V36) of the Infiniti G and shares parts with the Infiniti M, Infiniti EX, and Infiniti FX.
Beginning with the 2014 model year, all passenger cars will be identified by the letter “Q,” while sport utility vehicle model names will start with “QX,” according to a new naming scheme revealed by Infiniti in May 2013. The Infiniti Q50 was supposed to take the place of the Infiniti G, however starting with the 2015 model year, the G37 was resurrected as the Q40.

Infiniti Q60 Convertible, which debuted in 2009 as the G37 Convertible, will be available in 2014. The Infiniti Q60 Convertible shares a luxury sport appearance with the Q60 Coupe but has distinct construction beyond the A-pillar, including a wider rear track. In roughly 30 seconds, the three-piece retractable hardtop can be fully opened or closed automatically. The 2014 Infiniti Q60 Convertible’s four-passenger cabin comes standard with HID headlights, leather upholstery, satellite radio, and adaptive dual zone climate control. The standard Q60 Convertible’s 3.7-liter V-6 engine produces 325 horsepower when mated to either a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed automatic transmission. On a heavily sport-tuned Infiniti Q60 IPL Convertible, engine output is increased to 343 horsepower. There won’t be any Q60 Convertibles made for the 2016 model year, unlike its two-door coupe sibling. While the Infiniti Q60 Coupe will return as a brand-new model in 2017, there is no immediate word on the Q60 Convertible’s plans after 2015.
What makes the G37 IPL unique?
Infiniti’s renowned emotional design and Japanese craftsmanship serve as the foundation for the limited-edition G37 IPL vehicles, which then up the luxury and performance with alterations to the appearance, interior, engine tuning, and suspension.
What does the G in Infiniti stand for?
Posted on November 2, 2016 by Aaron Gold. The coupe and convertible from the Infiniti G series had to be the car that best represented the company.
Was the G37 IPL available in manual?
The well-known G37 Coupe is the first vehicle to sport Infiniti’s new Infiniti Performance Line (IPL) logo. This hopped-up premium sports car, like its sedan and convertible siblings, benefits from improvements meant to make things faster, tighter, more powerful, and more exclusive.
Sports appliques were added to the fascias in front and back as subtle enhancements to the body. The IPL model’s sportier goals are subtly communicated by larger exhaust outlets, specific badging, distinctive wheels, side-sill extensions, and other improvements.
The 2013 Infiniti G37 IPL also has performance tires, updated spring rates, and an improved braking system. Beyond that, the G37’s high-end, polished driving experience hasn’t changed much.
Drivetrain: A highly regarded 3.7L V6 is the only engine offered in the 2013 Infiniti G37 IPL. Customers can select between a 6-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed automatic with paddle-shift, all of which have been meticulously tuned to produce 348 horsepower. The automatic transmission has a completely automatic mode, but it also allows the driver to make quick shifts using paddles positioned on the steering wheel.
During city driving, the power delivery is smooth and linear, and there is a noticeable increase in forward momentum as the variable valve timing allows the 2013 Infiniti G37 IPL’s engine breathe all the way up to its 7,500 rpm redline.
In order to fully optimize the modifications, the engine has dual low-restriction intakes, the Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL) cam-timing system, low-friction piston coatings, and re-mapped engine management software.
Drivers may anticipate more engine noise as a low-restriction, high-performance exhaust system contributes to the IPL-tuned powerplant’s power increase. There are no front-wheel drive models of the 2013 Infiniti G37 IPL.
If you want a best-selling sports coupe with a stealth price increase that also comes with a discrete level of performance, give it some thought. Due to its high-end equipment set and luxurious cabin, the G37 is undoubtedly equal parts luxury and performance even in IPL specification. Whether or whether it has sport suspension, the 2013 Inifniti G37 IPL is prepared for anything from long-distance comfort to track-day sessions.
The IPL label is still entirely unproven, so avoid it if you’re looking for any history or a reputation from your performance-branded premium coupe. The improved performance falls short of what a BMW M or Mercedes AMG model would provide. The G37 with AWD is not offered in the IPL if you want it.
Additional Information: The vehicle has a hard drive navigation system, Bose stereo, a backup camera, automatic transmission, power memory seats, and seat heaters. The 2013 Infiniti G37 IPL has a keyless entry system for maximum convenience. Although small, there are rear seats.
Don’t Miss: The instrument cluster travels with the steering wheel when you power tilt it, improving vision. When traveling down the highway, the VVEL cam-timing system operates the engine in an incredibly economical mode, resulting in fuel economy that is respectably good for 348 horsepower coupes.
