Upgraded Vehicle-Specific Two-Way Remote Start for the Infiniti QX70
Blake was searching for a holiday gift for his wife Dara to improve her 2009 Honda Accord in 2009. Blake placed a call to the shop and asked ENORMIS to send him the remotes for a surprise remote start for his wife. For these clients in Rimersburg, Pennsylvania, ENORMIS has since completed numerous remote starters, cruise controls, and other car improvements.
This year, Dara called the dealership and discussed a remote start for Blake’s 2016 Infiniti QX70 with Doug Reichert. She remarked that Blake cherished his prior two-way remote start.
Doug had a suggestion for the new car. The QX70 a and our Factory Start v5 pair beautifully. On this vehicle, we were able to use special Infiniti/Nissan wire harnesses that were made just for it. This enables Blake to press the lock button on the Infiniti key fob three times, and then… vroooom! The Infiniti is about to commence.
The Infiniti remotes’ range is only approximately 100 feet, so we paired several Ataqan remotes with a 6–10 mile range and two–way confirmation to provide Blake the distance and two–way feedback he wanted for remote starting the car at work.
Doug sent Dara’s office the remote controls via mail. A wonderful surprise, indeed! Later, while they were spending time with family in Erie, Blake and Dara left the Infiniti off at ENORMIS so we could work on it.
Ken Whiteman, a MECP-certified technician, completed the excellent installation. With this vehicle-specific remote start, Blake only needs to approach the car after remote starting it, click the smart key’s unlock button or the driver door handle to get inside, and then take off. Doug went over all the remote start features with Blake and Dara when they picked up the car, then had them out on the road that afternoon for Rimersburg, Pennsylvania.
Doug Reichert contributed to this article. Phone him! Since 2001, Doug has worked in the car repair industry. Doug enjoys working in his yard and working out in his spare time. Doug participates in community activities by helping out at his church and various charities.

Do every car’s remote starters work?
Although remote start is not standard on all vehicles, it is a feature found in many models produced after 2016. The best approach to get the most of your vehicle is to become familiar with the amenities that it has to offer.
Look over the owner’s manual of your car (especially if you just bought it) when you have some free time. We’ve included a handful of the remote start options per dealership below. Naturally, features will differ depending on the car’s model.
What button launches the remote?
Your key fob transmitter, which has a wide operational range, contains a Remote Start button (2X). In order to remotely start your car: To lock all the doors, press the Lock button on your key fob.
Every key fob has remote starting, right?
If you spot a button with a clockwise-moving circular arrow, you’ll know it’s there. That is the remote engine start button, though the key fob itself does not have a label for it. For those who are already familiar with this button’s use, it involves hitting the lock button first, then the remote engine start button. No problem, isn’t it? Other key fobs include a button in the same location, but they have a different sequence for remotely starting the engine. For instance, Ford key fobs have the same circular arrow emblem with “2x” inside the circle (other key fobs are labeled “X2,” which implies the same). This informs you that in order to remotely start the car’s engine, you must click the button twice. This button is frequently seen in many key fobs, therefore it’s not really thought of as a hidden feature. However, certain automakers, primarily BMW, have introduced redesigned key fobs without the button. However, this does not imply that these key fobs lack these functionalities merely because there isn’t a circular arrow button to click. By rapidly pushing the “lock” button on the key fob, one can remotely start an engine in a new BMW by doing so. You don’t need to become daring and try out this sequence to test if the engine activates after pushing the lock button three times in a single second if your key fob has the circular arrow button. However, if it doesn’t, it won’t harm to try it out and see if it manages to complete the task in some way.

It’s usually never too late to install a remote starter, so don’t worry if your car didn’t arrive with one.
The manufacturer of your vehicle is your best bet, advises John Ibbotson, principal technician of CR’s Auto Test Center.
The automaker’s dealer-installed remote-start technology can possibly be installed in vehicles made after the mid-2000s. You ought to be able to add a remote starting if one was offered for the model, trim, and transmission of your automobile when it was new, according to Ibbotson. Your car’s ability to use remote starting can be determined by your dealer.
Vehicles manufactured prior to 2005 will likely require an aftermarket starter. If you choose to use an aftermarket product, Ibbotson advises, “have it professionally installed at a national chain like Best Buy or at a respectable local shop to help ensure this complex operation is done well. You’ll also obtain some degree of protection against failures.”
Stay away from inexpensive remote-starter systems that you can get online, and don’t even try to install one yourself, he advises.
Is remote starting the same as keyless starting?
Remote Start and Keyless Ignition are not the same things, even if they perform comparable functions. Without using a traditional key, drivers can start and operate their vehicles with keyless ignition. Simply press a button to leave. With Remote Ignition, you may start your car using a key fob or a mobile app.
How can I tell whether my car has remote starting?
You must first check at your key fob to see if you have the remote start option. The remote starter button has an arrow-like form.
If your key fob has this button, your car has remote starting capability. Press the button that locks the car once to try remote starting. Your engine will start when you press and hold the remote-start button for at least four seconds.
The climate control and parking lights will turn on as soon as the engine begins. Additionally, the heated/ventilated seats and the rear window defroster may turn on. You must only move out of park after pressing the start button on the dashboard since this function starts the engine but does not switch on the ignition.
Press and hold the button with the curved arrow on it to turn the engine off if you change your mind. Parking lot lights will go out.
