Tennessee’s NASHVILLE – Today, INFINITI announced that most models of its cars from the model years 2020 and after are now eligible for a free wireless Apple CarPlay(r) upgrade.
The free upgrade is available for the 2020 and 2021 Q50 sports sedan, Q60 sports coupe, QX50 midsize crossover, and QX80 full-size luxury SUV at INFINITI dealerships in the United States.
According to Jeff Pope, group vice president of INFINITI Americas, “customer satisfaction has always been one of our biggest objectives, and we are thrilled to deliver wireless Apple CarPlay(r) to owners of the majority of our 2020 and 2021 vehicles.” More than 80% of owners of luxury cars use Apple goods, and now INFINITI owners may use CarPlay(r) in their car to go wireless.

The newly announced 2022 Q50 and Q60 are the following models for wireless Apple CarPlay(r), followed by the brand-new QX60 seven-passenger SUV.

It’s a result of an upgraded infotainment system.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now available in the 2020 Infiniti model lineup. The company’s recently unveiled next generation of Infiniti infotainment systems has the capacity. Although it still goes by the name Infiniti InTouch and has a dual-screen configuration, the capability to connect to smartphones is brand-new. No Infinitis, not even the recently updated QX50 crossover, supported Apple CarPlay or Android Auto prior to this revelation. One of the final holdouts in terms of smartphone connectivity is the Japanese luxury brand.
For the 2020 model year, almost every Infiniti will have the new software; the QX60 is the sole vehicle that won’t. The new InTouch system may also act as a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to seven devices, allowing your entire QX80 group of passengers to connect to the internet. Additionally enhanced are the navigation system’s maps. In addition to Google Street satellite photography, a 3D city view was added. Because the interface has been simplified, a new Bluetooth module has been adopted, and a quicker CPU has been used, Infiniti claims that pairing your phone over Bluetooth will be simpler. Infiniti also guarantees that the upgraded Bluetooth module will increase the stability of the phone’s pairing with the vehicle.
Infiniti decided to use a wired Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connection, as will be noted. Others are pursuing wireless technology, with varying degrees of success, including BMW, Audi, and Ford (recently announced). Additionally, the two connection features will be a given. Waiting until 2020 is a good idea if you’re thinking about buying an Infiniti and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are important to you (they definitely should be).

Wireless Apple CarPlay is now a free upgrade from Infiniti.
What kind of enjoyment is distinctly uncommon these days? when you acquire something and the business from which you purchased it later updates its features without any strange terms or limitations. But that’s exactly what Infiniti is doing.
According to a Tuesday release from Infiniti, the company is doing this specifically for owners of Q50, Q60, QX50, and QX80 models manufactured in 2020 and beyond by equipping those vehicles with wireless Apple CarPlay.
The free upgrade will be accessible until March 31, 2022, and it should give the 80% of Infiniti customers who own Apple goods a substantial boost in usefulness. Wireless CarPlay is also an option on a few recent Infiniti cars, such as the QX55 and QX80, and it will be available on the Q50, Q60, and QX60 in 2022.
The 2020 Infiniti QX50 is Apple CarPlay compatible.
How do I use Apple CarPlay to activate Siri in my INFINITI QX50? In the INFINITI QX50, Siri can be accessed in two different ways. Either tap and hold the home icon on the Apple CarPlay screen or press and hold the speak button on the steering wheel. You can also leave Siri by following these identical steps.
Is Apple CarPlay available on the 2019 Infiniti Q50?
It would be realistic to anticipate Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in a brand-new luxury performance sedan in 2019, yet the Q50 lacks both of those features. The only option available to you is the antiquated, difficult-to-use Infiniti InTouch infotainment system.
An 8-inch touchscreen is stacked on top of a 7-inch touchscreen in the middle of the configuration. The top screen appears outdated thanks to its worn-out graphics. In contrast, the bottom screen appears to be only slightly more recent than the antique above it. However, when I navigate the user interface, I have the impression that at least half of the system’s menus might be removed to make things more straightforward.
HD and satellite radio are two additional basic cabin tech options. Although the inbuilt GPS in my tester is optional and difficult to operate, the 16-speaker Bosepremium audio system is at least nice.
The tech-challenged theme of the Q50 extends to a dearth of common driver aid technologies. The only thing you get straight away is automatic emergency braking. The driver safety technology in rival vehicles like the Genesis G70 and Lexus IS is significantly more generous. However, it doesn’t mean you can’t get the Q50 with all the contemporary bells and whistles. Blind-spot monitoring, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, backup collision prevention, and rain-sensing wipers are included in my $58,435 (plus $995 for destination) model.
However, the Q50’s interior offers some consolation. The interior has endured the years despite being an older style. I believe the dual-arch dash and waterfall center stack add to a design that will still look good in 25 years. For the base model, the cabin plastics appear good, but for the Red Sport spec, they could be a little better. However, the test car I drove had quilted leather accents that helped raise cabin quality to match the higher-spec price. The quality of the seat comfort is also excellent.
