The Q50’s navigation system does not provide lane guiding, and adaptive cruise control requires a series of expensive packages, neither of which are supported by Infiniti.

Can the Q50 from Infiniti have CarPlay?

Owners of a few different car models can now get wireless CarPlay as a free update thanks to an announcement from Infiniti. Owners of Q50, Q60, QX50, and QX80 models made in 2020 and after may now get wireless CarPlay added to their vehicles as a free upgrade, the company announced today.

The free upgrade program will be accessible until March 31, 2022, according to Engadget. In order to add wireless CarPlay capability, qualified owners must “go on over to their local dealership and hang out for approximately an hour,” while technicians install and update the car’s software.

CarPlay will be a free update for owners of the QX80, Q50, Q60, and Q60 SUVs in 2020 and 2021, according to an announcement made by Infiniti on Thursday. Owners of Infiniti vehicles only need to visit their nearby dealership and wait for around an hour while workers install and update the required software. The upgrade service is only accessible through March 31, 2022, so move quickly.

It is wonderful to see Infiniti offer this as a completely free update rather than charging for it, even though needing to visit an Infiniti store isn’t the most convenient upgrade experience.

Has the 2018 Q50 get CarPlay?

Some automakers drastically redesign the sheetmetal and fascia of their mid-cycle vehicle updates, while others choose a more conservative approach, making minor adjustments here and there. The changes to the 2018 Infiniti Q50 are somewhat subtle when using the latter strategy.

As I approach my Q50 Red Sport 400 test vehicle in Nashville, it doesn’t appear to have undergone much change from the 2017 version. However, according to Infiniti, the Sport model-specific front is brand-new and has a double-arch grille, wider air dams, a more pronounced front lip, and LED accent lights.

This most performance-focused variant in the Q50 collection has a more aggressive appearance from the back thanks to thinner LED bulbs and a two-tone lower diffuser.

As Infiniti maintained the primary arrangement of the dash untouched, slipping onto the driver’s seat feels comfortable. Some people may be able to see minor differences, such as the thicker steering wheel, shifter, and more accent stitching on top of the dashboard, if they look closely enough.

I navigate the carryover Infiniti InTouch infotainment system, which has a responsive 7-inch touchscreen below and an 8-inch screen at the top of the center console, as I start along the driving path. My preferred satellite radio station is playing on the incredible 16-speaker Bose sound system, and the navigation map is quickly shown.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not yet supported by the Q50’s infotainment system, but an Infiniti official promises that they will be in the future.

The Direct Adaptive Steering technology that came standard on my car from Infiniti initially lacked feel and input. The steer-by-wire technology no longer gives the impression that it is disconnected from anything because it is now in its second generation and is benefiting from constant improvement. When the Drive Mode Selector is set to Standard, the weight and responsiveness feel more natural when driving through the city, but when you select Sport Plus, the response is immediate and there is no dead spot whatsoever.

Even with Dynamic Adaptive Steering’s advancements, I still choose the rack-based electric power steering system that comes as standard on V6 Q50 vehicles.

No big issues with the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that continues to churn away under the hood and delivers 400 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque to my right foot. With the seven-speed automatic transmission’s seamless cog changes, getting onto the expressway to travel south is simple. Although using the steering wheel paddles to manually change ratios is an option, the computer did all the work for me for the majority of the day due to sluggish shift orders.

Considering the output, the engine and gearbox combination is also reasonably efficient. It achieves 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA.

My only issue with the drivetrain is that the blown V6’s exhaust tone is subdued. Even with the throttle wide open, the audible belch doesn’t make one feel anything. Fortunately, Infiniti does sell a few sport exhausts through dealers all across the country. A muffler-less system for the loudest soundtrack costs $589, while a throaty but yet refined kit with mufflers has a suggested retail price of $681.

Southwest of Nashville, the Red Sport 400 comes to life a little more after you get off the highway and onto more intriguing sections of road. Sport Plus increases steering response while also tightening the adaptive Dynamic Digital Suspension, the gearbox behavior, and the throttle response. The staggered 19-inch Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires hold the 3,840-pound car steady as it curves.

The 2017 Infiniti QX60 is Apple CarPlay compatible.

You may extend the capabilities of your Infinity’s existing entertainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto using our Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration kit. It is connected with the existing touchscreen and knob controls in your car to swap and control the apps. Or, you may use Siri or Google Assistant to operate it verbally. The integration kit will function as an additional function, so you won’t lose any of the features of your current system. The essential module and all the cables are included in the package to finish installation in our vehicle.

Please be aware:

CarPlay and Android Auto can only be used with the factory touchscreen in vehicles without original navigation. The circular knob in the central console cannot be used to operate Android Auto or Corplay.

Does INFINITI offer CarPlay support?

New INFINITI vehicles are equipped with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay(r). The luxury automaker INFINITI is thrilled to announce that nearly all new INFINITI models are equipped with standard Apple CarPlay(r) and Android AutoTM functionality.

How can I set up CarPlay on my 2017 Infiniti Q50?

Use an Apple-approved USB to lightning cable to connect through USB in an Infiniti Q50 model from 2020 and after. Connect your device to the USB port on your infotainment system while the car is running. Upon connecting, Apple CarPlay ought to start. To access the CarPlay features if there is a delay or it doesn’t launch, click the app’s icon.

Is Apple CarPlay available for the 2017 INFINITI?

The 2019 Q50 is Apple CarPlay compatible.

It would be realistic to anticipate Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in a brand-new luxury performance sedan in 2019, yet the Q50 lacks both of those features. The only option available to you is the antiquated, difficult-to-use Infiniti InTouch infotainment system.

An 8-inch touchscreen is stacked on top of a 7-inch touchscreen in the middle of the configuration. The top screen appears outdated thanks to its worn-out graphics. In contrast, the bottom screen appears to be only slightly more recent than the antique above it. However, when I navigate the user interface, I have the impression that at least half of the system’s menus might be removed to make things more straightforward.

HD and satellite radio are two additional basic cabin tech options. Although the inbuilt GPS in my tester is optional and difficult to operate, the 16-speaker Bosepremium audio system is at least nice.

The tech-challenged theme of the Q50 extends to a dearth of common driver aid technologies. The only thing you get straight away is automatic emergency braking. The driver safety technology in rival vehicles like the Genesis G70 and Lexus IS is significantly more generous. However, it doesn’t mean you can’t get the Q50 with all the contemporary bells and whistles. Blind-spot monitoring, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, backup collision prevention, and rain-sensing wipers are included in my $58,435 (plus $995 for destination) model.

However, the Q50’s interior offers some consolation. The interior has endured the years despite being an older style. I believe the dual-arch dash and waterfall center stack add to a design that will still look good in 25 years. For the base model, the cabin plastics appear good, but for the Red Sport spec, they could be a little better. However, the test car I drove had quilted leather accents that helped raise cabin quality to match the higher-spec price. The quality of the seat comfort is also excellent.

Can my INFINITI get Apple CarPlay?

The main drawback is that Infiniti owners are unable to upgrade the infotainment system to support Apple CarPlay on their own. Owners of 2020 and 2021 Infiniti cars will have to visit their nearby Infiniti dealership and wait for the required software to be installed and updated, which will take roughly an hour. This upgrade is free and comes with no conditions.

When did Infiniti start offering Apple CarPlay?

Tennessee’s NASHVILLE – Today, INFINITI announced that most models of its cars from the model years 2020 and after are now eligible for a free wireless Apple CarPlay(r) upgrade.

The free upgrade is available for the 2020 and 2021 Q50 sports sedan, Q60 sports coupe, QX50 midsize crossover, and QX80 full-size luxury SUV at INFINITI dealerships in the United States.

The newly announced 2022 Q50 and Q60 are the following models for wireless Apple CarPlay(r), followed by the brand-new QX60 seven-passenger SUV.
